I have a 78 monte v8 and i just bought an original throttle cable bracket for it. The old bracket wasnt the original one and was made to fit the 4 venturi carburator. Since then a 2 venturi carburetor is back on it.
I can only pull the cable this far.
Things to note:
Bracket is from a V6 but the shape is the same
2 venturi Caruberator thats now on it doesnt seem to be the exactly same as original

Remove the cable and measure how long it is.

The ATP Y 211 or the Pioneer CA 8474 is supposed to be the correct cable for the 305 2 barrel at 22.75 inches. The factory 4 barrel cable is about 2 inches longer and the V6 cables are about 2 inches shorter.

OOPs. My bad. Got V6 and V8 signals crossed. Was thinking he had a 4 bbl bracket on his V6 and then got the right bracket. Forget all that crap I said earlier.

1978 was the last year for that Rochester 2G. They were very reliable carbs, and easy to rebuild. While searching for the right cable, you could fabricate a short extension. A narrow piece of steel or aluminum with the correct size holes drilled, one end on the carb, a bolt on the other end at the cable, and you will be able to use it for now.

Worst case scenario is use an aftermarket braided "cut to fit" cable like Lokar or similar if you are allowed to.

When I swapped the 229 for a 305 in my '81 I used the original throttle cable but used a early '70's O.E. bracket that mounted on the rear of the carb base. No issues, fit & function as it was ment to.
