Remounting the canister can be problematic if you lose those mounting clips. They can be found under GM p/n 554665. Good luck finding them new, though.

Hold down bolts are GM p/n 12337838. Still available from GM. Or if you don't want to spring $6,000 per bolt from GM, you can opt for the Auveco 16828 aftermarket replacement. M6.3x1.81x20 with captured washer.

I'm likely going to use a black hot glue stick if I do one. Black RTV adhesive sealer MIGHT work. Since the mounting is basically the bottom having to hold it all down, it's got to be a good, solid glue. They also make some black superglue and it might do the job, but not sure about the compatibility of that and the plastic.

How do you when these vapor canisters go bad ?
We always shook them and if gas came out, we replaced them. Those, along with the idle air bleed seals would raise havoc with the MC dwell. I'm referring to the canister purge valve, not the canister. As to the canisters going bad, the only ones I ever replaced were the ones that ruptured and filled the carburetor with charcoal.

RTV is not fuel resistant and will quickly break down. RTV is only meant for oil and coolant and not for fuel.

Started my own thread on rebuilding one of these two-port cans, in case anyone cares.
