between the rear window and trunk lid on my malibu there is a panel. what is its name or what is it called? i havent had much luck searching for a new or good used one since i cant name it. mine is rusted badly and i was going to start pricing them vs trying to patch this one.

I think it's called the rear window filler panel.

i will have to give searching another shot, thanks. i thought i tried filler panel before and kept getting the plastic panels around the bumpers and the fiberglass panels around the tail light/quarter panel area.

I would try rear cowl. I have a burgundy one from a monte carlo, no rust. If you're interested, PM me.

I have also heard it called a rear window valance, and the rear window filler panel

BTW, if this is the panel between the rear window and the trunk lid, how does one unbolt and remove this sucker? Is there some trick? I've got a lot of leaves & needles under there on mine. 4-door, btw, since that may matter.

Theres screws holding it down and thats it. After that its all finagalling it out of there.

Depending on the car, there should be about three screws and three clips holding it on. Broke all three clips removing mine and no clue where to find them.

Is it's removal dependent of removing the window trim or something? The last time I tried to removed it (all the screws unbolted) it gave no indication that it wanted to move.

Image acquired via google-search. Those the clips?
