Backed the gfs impala out of the driveway to switch cars around and I got an "Engine Speed Reduced" message on the dash and it wouldn't do anything above idle. After panicking around the block trying to get it to fix itself, I pulled a plug to see if those might be the culprit.

I think something is missing 🤔

Anyway, I unhooked the battery while I looked at a few more (all also way past their usefulness), and it magically cured itself unpon restarting. Idk if I freaked it out by cranking the ac right away or not, but it is back to "normal". And I did forget to push the ac button, so it was just blasting warm air. Next next week I have a vacation and that poor 3.5 is gonna get its first set of plugs probably since the early Obama years.

I wire wheeled the plug to see the part number, it was completely rusty orange on the porcelain

Reduced Engine Power is a GM thing with something is decently wrong and may possibly damage the Engine. I've had to adjust a table in the tune on some cars that have mods because that will kick in. If I remember right there's one that compares airflow of the MAF to TPS position, if the air flow is more than it "should be" at a certain TPS it kicks that on thinking something is wrong. Headers and a bigger exhaust on a car with the tune properly dialed in has triggered it before so I basically raise the values of the differences so it doesn't trigger that code.

Bought four new tires for the F-150 and had them mounted on four wheels I bought off of Craigslist that were in better shape than the ones I had. I went up two sizes on the tires and went from a highway tire to an all terrain. I think they look a lot better and match the leveling kit nicely. Still (barely) fits in the garage. I got the annual inspection and emissions done at the same time. Washed, clayed and waxed it too.

This is a bone stock (apparently down to the plugs) 266,000 mile 2007 impala 3.5. Never did this in three years of my gf owning it.

Not too bad for a junkyard freebie, had a chance to get into it. Needed a new O-Ring on the cylinder and just clean up in general. Greased the front wheel bushings and riveted a plate of aluminum behind the plastic cover to protect it from getting broken. Should come in handy.

So the electrodes on the plugs have seemingly left the building and the mill still ran??? I've heard of recessed 'trodes but buried?? The script showing on the one plug almost looks chinese or ay-rab. They made in Pakistan or one of the other stans maybe?

Parked the mechanical to do's in favor of dealing with my urban garden issues. Finally cut the steel repair stakes to length and sharpened the existing points for better insertion into the ground. The bottom four feet got a good coat of Krylon Anti-rust green. Still need to attach some tabs to them in order to have attachment points that will pick up the existing corner posts. I have some 3" flat plate for that and it will get cut into 2x3 sections that will then get bent to give me a 2x 1 angle. Short side gets welded to the stakes and then drilled for a screw or two to complete the connection. Paint 'em and then slug them home with a large hammer.

Backs story on all this is that I had to fence in the garden several years ago, pre Covid, to keep the critters from invading and eating/damaging the veggies. Thing with the fence is that the ground kills the wooden fence post and I had to replace them a couple of times in the intrim. With the steel stakes I can abandon the section of post below ground and continue on with the above ground portion. Also lets me do the repair without having to drop the chicken wire mesh and then have to retension and rehang it. Stuff does not like to be flat. Once this is done I can go back to seeing if I can get fresh sweet peas and carrots to grow. Good to have fresh veggies on hand considering what the stores want for the stufff.
