What did you do to your non-G Body project today [2024 edition]

We got as little into it as possible, didn't even really end up using all the parts I got. My buddy had debated on leaving the seal, but I said since we had it we might as well replace it even though the other one looked like it was fine. There weren't any shims under the input shaft so I guessing that Cochran screwed me on that deal and because of it then ate the pilot. We left the bearing and race because they were in good shape, threw it back together and as of now seems totally better. I know it is not a long term fix but wanted to spend as little time and money at the moment since both the Blazer and the Monte are always taking it

So the problem was no shim at all and the fix was to shim it?

We were going with the combination of no shim and the roller part of the bearing checking out to be nowhere we could find, like I said I don't plan it to be long term but great if it does.

Replaced the A/C condenser on my 2006 Lacrosse yesterday and got it charged up today. Last summer I needed to add a can every month or so and I didn’t need it for the winter, but it's getting warm and I wanted fix it properly. No great pictures, it was a PITA to change, had to pull the radiator and fans to get it out. System held 30 inches of vacuum for an hour so I charged it up and I've got cold air now.

Spent time on the hunting rig today. RGB rock lights and green spotlights plus some Oh Sh*t handles. Aso did a little beat of heat gun on the driver's rear flare from an unexpected sideways adventure last time out at the lease.

Replaced the driver side inner and outer tie rods on the Crown Vic, the inner was loose and had a flat spot. The passenger side rods were still tight but smooth. Took it in for an alignment.

Got my 1975 Sedan DeVille w/500cid fired up. Only got to run it about 10-15 minutes last year but ran it for about 45 minutes this weekend. Going to get it registered and see if I can get it to pass inspection.

Now you have me wondering about the 78 Sedan de Ville that quietly reposes in Bay Three, the one we never talk about, in my garage. It did get driven in under its own power but that was over a decade ago. Left the driver's window down when I pulled the battery just so I could get in and out Nascar style if I had to.

Only thing with it is that I would have to pull the timer and prime the oil pump to preload all the oil galleries. Like some other models, it shares the Achilles heel of having the oil pickup at one end of the motor and the pump all the way at the other, in this case it is in the timing cover. So all the oil has to be scavenged from the oil pan, transit the length of the motor to the pump and from there get pushed up and back into the oil galleries. Engineering team that thought that one up ought to have their bones dug up and boiled for soup! The other thing is that to use it I would have to get it retitled in my name which means getting a safety check and that is a 'hole 'nuther story.
