I meant to put a smiley face after my comment. I'd take it apart and bead blast everything. A rearend will rust sitting buttoned up even in a building. That happens to motor homes that sit for a few years, then it's used. The bearings will wear out from the rust. Any long time sitting car should have the rearend cover opened to look at it or driven a short bit then chan

My aunt bought a new Mustang one time (mid-60s, don't recall exact model year) and it had a little tag hanging in the interior, may have been on the turn signal lever, stating something to the fact that you must move the car 21 feet every 21 days to ensure everything gets lubed, especially the ring gear or some sh*t like that. I've always remember that 21 number. Kinda makes sense.

That is why I like the 8.5" Type O in my 70S. Too bad Olds stopped using bolt in axles in the mid 70's on the 8.5".
