Hi guys,
I was making some plans to do my (dual)exhaust.
And quickly found out that the crossmember is going to be in the way.

What have you guys done?
Just cut it up and put some pipe bigger than the exhaust in between?

Maybe someone had some pictures of their exhaust routes for me?

Already got me hooker headers and some thrush mufflers just need to get some pipe.
I found a little better picture.

I don't consider 2.5" big, on my Monte I modified my factory crossmember to fit a 400 turbo trans and my 4.5" exhaust and everything is tucked up high.
If I was going to use pipe like you want to do I would use 1/4" thick wall and cut them in half so it is open on the bottom it will make installation much easier.
I think the passenger will be fine for 2.5" though.

You can't see my crossmember but you can see how high up my exhaust is for ground clearance. View attachment 136289
Nice gonna need maximum ground clearance 👍😋

Crossmember doesn’t have to come from a g body I used one from a 1964 Chevelle 4dr I found in the junkyard 68 to72 have dual exhaust crossmembers along with 70 to 72 Monte Carlo’s not sure about The older BOP stuff I only had to shorten it an inch or two on both sides

Just cut out the piece in the way flip it around and reweld it

Then you can weld a piece of steel on top and still have plenty of floor board clearance

No need to go nuts

GEEZZZZZZZ whats with all this go buy one nonsense!!!!!!!!

Do we build them or just bolt on parts!?!?!??!?!

I recall guys using cross members from a Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marquis and I believe they needed to be shortened slightly and probably re-drilled.
They're also made for dual exhaust. ...or even using one from a '68-'72 A-body with some slight alterations.

You may think that but no way would it happen.

I had similar made xmembers on 400hp cars without any issues
