Did GM HAVE 2 different sizes of the 70s-80s sport mirrors? I know bases could be different depending on model. I got a replacement mirror glass for my 79 Elco with dual sport mirrors from OPGI. The glass is to small. WTF

I cannot swear to it, but the sport mirrors on my 71 442 seem smaller than the sport mirrors on the G-body. So there may be something to it. I'll try to get out to the shop to measure them and see if it's not just my eyes playing tricks.

The Malibu/Camino/LeMans/baby Bonnevilles have a taller sport mirror than the Buicks/Olds versions. The lower pedestal is about 1/2" taller, and the studs are in a slightly different location. The top portion is the same.

Also, factory-equipped sport mirror cars have a stiffener screwed to the intrusion beam that doubles up where the mirror studs penetrate the door skin, to help prevent cracking of the skin.

The label says 71-88 Chevy A/G bodies

The stem/base has nothing to do with this problem. The mirror glass is bigger on mine compared to what they call for.

I call BS.

There just isnt any way I see that, for example, the sport mirror on a regal/grand national :

Uses the same glass as a sport mirror on a monte carlo ss.

The housing shapes on the ends are so different, without a pile of dead air spare on the highly tapered monte, that I just can't see it.

So what did OPGI say about the different size glass?

I even sent them a text with the pic I posted here. They haven’t gotten back to me yet.
Do you have measurements for both your factory mirrors and the replacement glass?
I have my Monte and Regal here plus an extra set of mirrors to compare.

With the weird shape, straight across the center measures roughly 5.5. Up the center is just over 3 inches
