Well it is aluminum, and the G force unit is steel.

This is one of those subjects people go back and forth over, Some people don't like the weight of the g force style and some people love it because adds rigidity.people used to swear by those iceman lightweight tubular versions back in the day and others swore it was too flimsy. I'm a fan of aftermarket crossmembers because running an exhaust with a stocker is not much fun.

I have to buy a new crossmember anyway for the 200r4 swap, and it'd be nice if I could get some dough back out of my th350 g force unit. I do wish it was steel though.
