First Time Header Removal

Its about time i put my AEM wideband guage/02 sensor setup to good use.

Since my ceramique coated headers coating has flaked off enough, both appear to be in good shape, they both could use a good stripping and just repainted in high temp black after a 02 bung has been welded in on both.

So after disconnecting the battery first, then detaching both left and right headers from the engine, then from the rest of the exhaust system, would it be difficult to remove them from ontop, or would it be easier to remove them from the bottom of the car?

it might vary from one header manufacturer to another but it's all from down below with mine.i gotta put the car waay up.if i didn't have the bigger a/c box from the top might be an option on the right side.

Agreed. One header might be easier to install/remove from below while another is easier a different way. Google your header brand & p/n to see what others have done.

If the current headers are in fact 'ceramic coated', I'd scrub them as clean as possible w/some sort of degreaser/cleaner & then prep for paint vs sanding the ceramic coating away/off.

As far as the coating you could always send them out or have someone local recoat them.

The headers are old... no point wasting ceramic on them, i'll buy new a set of headers whenever a new engine goes in.

Simple strip, prep and use high temp black paint will suffice... what i really need are 1 3/4" headers to seal the "D" exhaust ports on the ZZ4 113 heads more efficiently.
