It's the correct way to seal a seam. 2 part auto body supplies are much more durable than 1 part stuff. If it's easy to take apart, then it can fail easier. The good stuff isn't cheap.
The best seam sealer is two part, 2k epoxy sealer. It's best to paint the area with 2 part epoxy primer, then seal with epoxy seam sealer, then recoat with more epoxy primer, then topcoat with 2 part urethane.
So does electro contact tip stick out. Sometimes you have to grind the gas nozzle down a bit to get the correct stick out. I did it to my MIG welder and it improved my welds.
Also the gloves they sell for MIG welding are so thick they interfere with hand manipulation

The quality of welds is partly depend on skill and partly on the quality of the equipment and materials. A good ground and infinite settings helps tremendously.
Terminal 18 is the output for the fuel mixture control solenoid. Grounding it would default it to constant lean. Solenoid on is lean, solenoid off is rich. Grounding the green diagnostic plug in the engine bay would accomplish the same thing.
