    Stupid GBody Comments

a friend of mine went to Advance to get a thermostat for a 63 Scout, the parts guy told him they only made Volvos in 63. Idiot.

    GTA Rims

I have had good luck running the 16" Formula wheels as long as I ran the front wheels in the rear and the rear wheels in the front.

    Truck 350?

The internals are the same as any other small block 350, aside from possibly compression ratio. The big difference will be in the heads, truck heads are pretty lowsy unless they are Vortec. If you are going to tear down the motor anyway I would suggest that, you would need a different intake...

    Truck 350?

As long as it is 2WD and not 4WD you should be able to use the transmission. It's probably a 700-R4. You cannot use the rear, not bolt in anyway. If you had it narrowed or lengthened as needed and the mounting tabs welded in the correct locations it would work, but it is not worth it for a stock...

    Pontiac GP 2+2

everybody has their opinions. I guess thats why GM made a dozen different A/G bodies. the c pillar doesn't change though, not on the 2+2 anyway, the glass fits in where the original glass fit, it just slopes back to meet the abreviated decklid.

    Pontiac GP 2+2

thats not really a bad thing though. the lexan will be alot lighter than a glass window and the fiberglass shouldn't cave in the way the urethane does after it ages a couple years.

    Pontiac GP 2+2

yes. it is expensive, but available. you can get the whole thing from them, window, decklid, bumpers, decals. everything to clone a 2+2 from a regular GP.

    Pontiac GP 2+2

I was considering getting the back end kit for my 84. I may still, will have to wait and see how things go.

    Pontiac GP 2+2

That is a good point about the high RPM's. Fortunately torque is more useable on the street. Yes it would have limited them in NASCAR but it would have been ideal for the typical street cruiser/daily driver.

    Pontiac GP 2+2

It is just the opposite for me. I really like the back end but don't care or the nose. Either way GM shorted us by not puting TPI motors in the 2+2 or the SS for that matter.

    More Headliner Qs

if you still have the piece, clean the backside to remove any loose particles and put it back together using a 2 part epoxy. for extra strength you could put a layer or two of heavy fibreglass matte, use the woven kind not the matted kind though, i've heard it is stronger.

    Dumber than I look!

probably a cracked flexplate. i have cracked them on Buick 3.8's, Chevy small blocks, and Jeep 4.0 motors just to name a few, always sounds like a rod knock.

Grand Prix hybrid, could it be done.

it would probably be alot easier to do it it with a lemans or grand am nose. he body lines are alot closer than the grand prix.

What was the worst motor used in the G-body vehicles

the 3.8 is a great motor, had several, all problem free. as long as it was teh Buick 231, the chevy 229 was crap. The Buick is probably right there with the 4.3.

    motor mount brackets

i thought the change in brackets happened late sixties. i'm not sure about it, but it sounds right. i put a 73 400 in my 79 and it was ok, no problem with mounts. hope that was helpful.
