Did I do ok?? picking up a ford 9"

I was speaking with the guy selling me the center section, he is telling me that a 28 spline 9" is weak, an can barely handle a mildly built v8. I'm hoping that he isn't right, because $700 is alot to spend for a grenade. He's telling me I need 31 spline stuff to handle a built v8?? Seems like...

Did I do ok?? picking up a ford 9"

yea its a stock 58" g-body width, not sure who did the welding, but the guy Im getting it from has 35 yrs experience in racing, so im guessing the rear end, and the work done to it should be up to par

Did I do ok?? picking up a ford 9"

Hello everyone, After a long search I finally came across a rearaxle. Its a Ford 9" minus the center section(3rd member). It has the g-body control arm, shock, and spring mounts installed already, 28 spline axles, axles are chevy bolt pattern with bigger wheel studs, good drum brakes, Its been...

    Rear axle help needed

I've been trying to research a ford 8.8 swap. Around here we have alot of rusted, and junked ford vehicles that have the 8.8 in them. From what i've read so far, people are saying an explorer rear is your best bet, they are a strong, have disk brakes, posi, and geared good from the factory. My...

    Rear axle help needed

honestly its been a long time since I made my previous thread, and Im pretty sure I was asking primarily about a 9", or 12 bolt swap. The caprice rearend is a 10 bolt, and the 95 caprice rear, you have stated wont work. I would love to buy that bronco 9" because it has a good gear ratio I could...

    Rear axle help needed

Hi guys, Im still hunting for a decent rearend for my 84 monte. I came across 2, but Im unsure if they will even work. One is out of a older caprice, the guy is unsure of its lenght, but says its has a posi or locker with 3.30 gears, and about the same lenght as a cutlass 12 bolt. The other is...

12 bolt width, and wheel/tire fitment

Hello everyone, I recently posted a thread in the monte section about some rear axle options I had. Well I have decided to go with a 12 bolt so I looked further into the 12 bolt my dads had stashed away for years. Its from a 1972 pontaic gto, its posi, with 4.11 gears. It needs some work because...

    8.5" rear end question

Thanks for the info, but I was wondering Whats size rims and tires can I stuff under the car once I install the 12 bolt?? I currently have 275/60r15's on 15x8 wheels, Im not sure on there backspacing. I did run 295/50r15's on a previous monte but I had to run a thin wheel spacer and air shocks...

    8.5" rear end question

Well I talked to my dad and the 12 bolt came out of a chevelle and he put it into a 1970 gto judge. When he sold the judge he pulled it out and stored it away. It eventually ended up in my incles storage shed where its been burried for years. He says it worked awesome and was very strong and...

    8.5" rear end question

All I know is it came out of a cutlass g-body car. Im thinking of offering about $200. If he wouldnt take that then I think Im better off with the stronger 12 bolt.

    8.5" rear end question

hello everyone, A distant friend recently pulled a 8.5" rear end out of a car. He said it is posi, he is unsure on the gear ratio, and it worked fine when he pulled it. Whelp, the rearend ended up outside all summer, fall, and winter, in tall grass. Sooooo, It needs brake work, backing plates...
