Just wrapping up a Big Block Chevy install in an 86 442. Used Hooker headers for a big block/Gbody. The passenger side header hits the frame and will not allow the header to seal up against the cylinder head ( it's a 1/4 inch off the gasket)? Hate to start hammering on a new set of $800 headers...
Let me know if you take a run at making your own. Curious to see how that works out. The fiberglass repro's from GBody parts look OK, but I have an issue with paying $20 for shipping on something that will fit in an envelope? I was thinking about making some out of hard rubber material as well.
I am looking for the rear spoiler rubber gaskets for an 84 Hurst Olds. I have seen them in the past but they were expensive...$88 for 2 rubber gaskets. Anyone know where to find them reasonable?
Thanks for the info!
A single plane intake and a 1050 will be a pig at low rpm's with a 3.50 gear. Go with the dual plane and 750 carb and 3000 stall converter. If you decide to go quicker, switch to a 3500 stall, 4.10 gear and your 1050 carb.
Finishing up a big block Chevy build in an 86 Olds 442. Need a drive shaft for a short tail shaft turbo 400 to a Grand National 8.5 rear end. It's a street car. Anyone have any ideas outside of having a custom shaft built?
Anyone have any tips for a BBC/Turbo 400 driveshaft? I want to upgrade but not spend a ton. Also, looking for a clean serpentine belt set up. The SBC conversion looks clunky.
Thanks!
I picked up an 86 442 that had been converted to a small block Chevy previously. I think jack the ripper did the wiring conversion ! lol If I get a wiring harness from a Monte SS will it plug into the connector under the wiper motor ? This would give me all the connectors routed to the correct...
I picked up an 86 442 with a smoked small block Chevy recently. The engine was out when I bought the car ( the guy had his 14 yr old son take the engine out for "practice" so it was a scramble finding all the pieces that got lost ) I have the engine back in the car but I am having a tough time...
Looking for a hood for a G Body Cutlass that has the look of the 70-72 442's with the dual scoops out on the leading edge. I had an 84 Cutlass drag car a few years ago that had 1 on it.
Any ideas ? This was a fiberglass hood.
Thanks !
