    Gbody Vs Fox body T-bird/cougar???

While my 81 Monte was down, I had a 86 Mark VII LSC. That car was great. Wasn't as fast as the Monte (It had a SB 400) but it did everything else fantastic. It had 4 wheel disc, EFI (Though only a 2 barrel ), and the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. (I'd kill to get a pair today and put...

The Cheap Route: Switching from a Hydraulic T/O bearing, to a External Slave Cylinder. For Olds.

I never heard of it either. But I had one and it was in one of the clutch kits I bought a few years back. Then I saw it listed in the parts stores. It was a National part number 614083 They call it Self-Aligning. A few other companies carry these bearings too. The bearing moves independently...

The Cheap Route: Switching from a Hydraulic T/O bearing, to a External Slave Cylinder. For Olds.

Just another first. I heard the squeaking every time I pressed on the clutch since October. I thought the bearing was bad. I checked it and it was fine. I would never have guessed that it was grinding away the fingers of the clutch. I installed a stage 2 clutch and it feels feather light at the...

The Cheap Route: Switching from a Hydraulic T/O bearing, to a External Slave Cylinder. For Olds.

Update: Slave cylinder working fine. Lesson learned, a stage 3 clutch and a self adjusting throwout bearing don't mix.

    Rebuilding AC this spring

Re My system was running when i purchased the car in '04. I resealed the box in '09 while replacing the heater core. The seals looked a lot like those. I converted to R134a in '06 and my compressor failed in '16. In '17, I replaced the system with all new parts except the Evaporator and the...

    Rebuilding AC this spring

One more important thing to know is if the system failed, you want to know why and how. For example, if the compressor blew, You will definitely be replacing everything down the line. The orifice tube filter will tell you if it caught the shrapnel from the compressor, if so, chances are the...

Three Pedals G-Body Manual Transmission Conversion

That's an insane price. I did it and I'm well under 1000 bucks. Mostly everything was used. Of course there were 3 parts that I custom made. The pedal, the recent slave cylinder bracket ( I'm a ex Hyd T/O bearing user. ), and the trans mount. I never looked back. The T56 is on the horizon. T

    Olds 307 to 400 sbc

In my OPINION. I'd sell the Chevy and put in a big block Olds. I have no clue where these guys are getting the Idea that a 455 with a good cam and intake will be out powered by a non-race spec 400sbc. That 400 will have to "SPIN" (above 6500rpm ) to out power a BBO. (Always with the Olds bashing...

The Cheap Route: Putting a 7.625 in a 7.5 housing

Update. I had to change out my yoke because one of the strap bolts snapped off while I was changing the clutch hydraulic systems. I cleaned up the one from the 7.5 and flipped them with little oil loss. Just drove it yesterday for 40 miles on the highway and then checked to see how much heat the...

Unfortunately yes. Lol, I'm that nut-case that will turn a 20 min job into a 2 hour job because a bolt isn't in the right place.
