Cutlassefi did the tuning, had full timing control and 62-63 psi with the Holley in tank module. I had a fire, still worked till this spring, no communication no matter what I did. I would highly suggest a stand alone wiring harness
Go inside, under the hood was a PIA. Biggest waste of money to date, lost communication with the X Max and never ran right on a very mild Olds 358. Hope yours turns out, I went back to a Qjet.
Well, interesting and frustrating couple of days with the Oldsmobile. I pissed around forever with the shifter, so many hours wasted. I have all gears finally except park. Probably if I remove the cover and grind either the top of the range or add another square notch to get low and keep park...
So I found this diagram.
If I move the toggle switch to the one position, it instantly pops the fuse. In the two position, it does nothing. I will double check the trans plug orientation, can be put upside down. I may bypass this controller all together for lock up. I am also sure, not getting...
I always saw a 2400 rating for the D5. Many have said actual was just over 2000 rpm behind the mighty Olds 307 HO. I know the lower stall D9 isn't even as bad as the stock TH350, 1600 vs about 1900 rpm actual for the D9. Behind a hotter 305 or 350, a D5 would be quite nice.
I appreciate the warning, I found either no reviews or 3.5 to 4 star reviews. Then I stumbled across one on Jake's site. Mine has a light and 3 way regular rocker switch. No instructions on wiring the rocker switch.
I'm not too worried about max line pressure on a 4L80E, a 4L60E is glorified junk in comparison. I did install a Transgo HD2 shift kit just before installing this controller. I have all gears from what I can tell but no torque converter lock up. I don't think the torque converter automatically...
Well, the car runs great, not surprised with the Qjet I custom built. I am running the ported vacuum source for vacuum advance, don't need a ton of timing. The rear air door was really loose for some reason, had to set it twice tighter. Boy does the posi rear work. The $50 Amazon manual trans...
That seems to be what they do on Olds V8's. Checked the tension and if the adjustment is maxed out, it may need a new belt. I like Dayco and Gates but I find all new belts stretch a lot, even had one Dayco serpentine stretch to where it started squealing. Get the shortest belt that will fit as...
So no communication, no matter what I tried with the Terminator X Max. So here is my solution.
Honestly I don't feel like spending more money on this EFI. Plus not too thrilled to send anything South. I also found corrosion on the EFI distributor cap and rotor. I have a cheap Amazon manual...
Great job, probably the only more door Oldsmobile G body with a carbed 3.8 Turbo on the planet. You have to love that. Hopefully it meets all expectations, enjoy!
Yes, Olds made closed impeller pumps for heavy duty/AC cars. Flowkooler is the only closed impeller pumps available other than the $200 Thornton Muscle Cars pumps. Yes, nearly any of the factory fans move a lot of air. You will have to measure or do research on what fits. The GN surround isn't a...
I had issues with my 88 Cutlass running hot with Olds V. I tried multiple aluminum rads, fans, water pumps and thermostats. The GN rad rubber surround made the most difference. As said, the T stat won't make a difference, especially being a 180. The open impeller water pump is a minimal gain...
