Retrofitting a Monte Carlo SS gauge cluster

I did the conversion using the wiring diagram from Malibu Racing. No cutting of wires, just swapping them around in the connector that plugs into the gauge cluster.

    Wheel spacers

The tire/wheel combo on my El Camino just clears the frame on the inside.Be nice to have just another 1/4 inch of clearance, room enough in the wheel wheel to move the tire out 1/4 inch. Any of you have experience with the thin die cast wheel spacers? I'm a little leary that these thin pieces...

    Power brake booster

The power brake booster in my 81 El Camino needs replacement. There's seems to be two models,a single booster and a tandem booster. How do you tell the difference? The one in my car,it's looks original,is 8 inches in diameter and about 5-1/2 inches thick. And is there an advantage to using one...

    Steering box

I was told, maybe wrong, the Jeep box is a bolt in.But I'm not afraid to take one apart and swap the gears and T bar thing. the Grand Cherokee sure does look like a GM box though. A Monte box would be nice ,I can't seem to find one.. Or a 350 buck rebuild box or aftermarket box.

    Steering box

There's information on the internet about swapping faster ratio steering boxes woth more road feel into G bodys. It says a mid 90's Jeep grand Cherokee box is a good swap.Dp any of you have any experience with this or other steering boxes?

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

I'm no chemist, but I believe graphite or carbon is often added to rubber or plastic like materials to make them black.I suppose if you put in enough graphite is adds lubrication.

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

Energy Suspension's current wesite still says "selected black bushings have graphite" So if they got sued for false statements they either don't care or have changed the bushings.

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

I got the black urethane bushings with graphite from Energy Suspension.I called them first and the tech rep swore their bushings don't squeak. But in the kit is a container of sticky grease with instructions to lube it all up well during assembly. I don't take corners on two wheels but I like...

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

I gave a lot thought on the urethane bushings.Got good reports from a few guys so I went with them.I'll see if I like em. The softer sway bar and stiffer springs is prefered by some for auto crossing too.I can always change the sway bar. PGP,thanks for the Moog number on the rear...

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

I haven't driven it yet, still finishing up engine work. But the hillbilly test of standing on the bumper and jumping up and down says it's a lot sitiffer than before.I put in urethane bushings so I'll have to drive it a bit to get "loosened up" for the real test. Some say the F41 springs are...

    F41 Springs or Equivalent?

I just installed the Moog 5658(S-10) front springs in my 81 El Camino. The stock springs appeared to be the regular stuff, not F-41.The front ride height is now about an inch higher than the old sacked out springs.I also did all the bushings, ball joints etc so maybe after a few hundred miles it...

One piece rear main seal flywheels

Thanks for the reply. The Flywheel I bought is made by Daikin,a manufacturer of OEM flywheels for most auto manufacturers according to them.It cost about 80 bucks.GM performance offers two of these same flywheels,a 16 pound and a 24 pound for 250 bucks through GM Direct or Summit or Jegs. The...

One piece rear main seal flywheels

So my 81 El Camino project is moving along.I coverted it from auto to manual transmission and it's time for a flywheel and clutch. The engine is a 1990 305 one piece rear main seal, normally set up for a 153 tooth starter motor. I'm using an early 80's Camaro clutch housing with the down angled...

    81 El Camino exhaust manifolds

I just got an 1981,305 ,manual transmission with floor shift.I heard the stock 305 exhaust manifolds are very restrictive. Is there any other stock type cast iron SBC exhaust manifold that flow better and fit the chassis? I see the motor mount is pretty much centered on the engine,so the older Ram's...
