OK, I've remained quiet on this thread up to this point, but have been reading it religiously :D
PLEASE follow your list and get rid of those old Enkei wheels. The gold intricate BS (a-la 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix) does not work with your paint, their style is outdated, they are worn, etc...
The market isn't the greatest right now, but could pick up by the time the car is restored. It's definitely worth restoring, but I wouldn't look to make out like a bandit on it, because a top notch 100% stock restoration could cost close to what the car is worth right at the moment. Now is...
It looks good! Show cars are for people who have the time and money for that sort of thing, more a social hobby for those who need to show paint and polish off to others with full scale model kits.
For a classic you actually DRIVE regularly, paint just needs to be a good "10 footer." I...
Even after putting up with my lemon of a 2001 Ford Ranger, I still looked at the American makes with the exception of Ford. Couldn't bring myself to buy a Dodge. All I had to do was read owner reviews on the Colorado/Canyon and see things like them needing engine and cylinder head replacements...
When I bought my LeMans in 2001, it had an Interstate in it. It still has that very same Interstate in it, no problems to speak of. It even sits out in the car all winter long with no use. It started the car right up when I drove it last week for the first time this year. Can't seem to kill...
The engine mounts for the 229 V6 will work with the small block as the 229 is a Chevy built engine. But, for the price, I would get new mounts. 231 Buick V6 mounts do not work with the SBC.

Even on the electronic carbs there is a fast idle adjusting screw on the carb to change the speed, adjusting the choke will only control the amount of time the choke remains closed, not the fast idle speed. Look on the linkages with the engine cold and shut off. If you open the throttle to...
Not really sure why anyone would WANT to try this?? I think those cans would do nothing but make an American V8 look and sound cheesy, kind of the same way they do on most rice burners. But here again I'm the old fart who can't wait for the Tokyo drift thing to fade away along with the donks...
If it's a carbureted turbo with a rough body, it's really only worth a couple hundred bucks. The carbureted turbos suffered much like the GM diesels of thier time did. A lot of owner lack of understanding on a design that wasn't all that great to begin with. I was around on the planet when...
If you enjoy driving it, then you know what it is for and it needs to be used for that purpose again. I wouldn't worry so much about trying to make the body work and paint all perfect, just by reading and looking at this thread it's really at a point where that would never be again, or at least...
There is a "factory" way to set the idles, but you can do it by ear/feel. The fast idle on your carb is a simple adjusting screw. The slow idle is adjusted with both the stop screw on the solenoid controlled by the computer, there is also a set screw used to set the speed when the throttle...
Might not apply here if you got it fixed but the heat riser valve is a well known pain in the azz with carbureted cars from this era. On the 231 V6, it is on the drivers side exhaust, between the manifold and the Y pipe. On GM V8's, it can be on either side. It closes with vacuum when the...
Rather than having anything to do with the rims, the "Motor Wheel" fender sitcker in that picture more than likely applies to the company (still in existence) that makes brakes and brake components.
