    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Good to hear Joe! If you do pick one up, I strongly advise playing around with a couple of test pieces to get the hang of it first. It’s easy to over shrink or over stretch if you’re not careful. The number of times you do it, the pressure you apply on the handle, and the placement of the piece...

A shrinker/stretcher is what you need to add the required curvature there Joe. Do you have access to one? Harbour Fright down there probably has their version of one, I have ours up here and it’s not terrible. Eastwood’s is a little better. Pretty specialized piece of equipment though. You...

    BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Mirror update! Some of you might remember how the aftermarket replacement mirror glass I got from Rock Auto didn’t really fit very well. The driver’s side was slightly oversized and didn’t fit inside it’s plastic carrier, and the cut of the passenger’s side was completely wrong and shy material...

    Best Safety Glasses?

As someone who absolutely despises wearing safety eyewear, and has had to undergo several trips to the ophthalmologist for corneal ulcers for over wearing his contact lenses, I highly recommend these Uvex ones: They’re not true goggles so they don’t fog up, but the curvature fits my face...

Can anyone tell me what this is

Correct. Not all came with the G80 PosiTraction option though, so be aware of that if making a decision on it. Do your due diligence.

Can anyone tell me what this is

That is indeed an 8.5” 10 bolt rear end. The squared off triangles at the bottom are the dead giveaway, 7.5” rears have what look like curved “fangs” there. It could be GN, but it could also be from an Olds 442.

    The Spotted Thread

G bodies are very few and far between around here, so this was a rare sight.

Also looks like you might have a little work to do to the inner wheelhouse first too. How bad is the corrosion damage to it? I can see what looks like at least a couple pinholes in the pictures.

Butt welding definitely takes a little more time and effort, but the end result will be much nicer and won’t create a dirt and water trap for rust to develop. I would strongly recommend it over lap welding. The longevity of the repair will last much longer as well. Just my $0.02.

The Generic Car Show & Cruise Thread (2024 Edition)

Gorgeous! I’m envious now, mine was a sedan and not a convertible. Funny thing is, the whole time I owned that car, I always wished it was one year older. I’ve always liked the ‘64 Galaxies the best out of all of them.

Shame you didn’t grab a picture of that black 1965 Galaxie beside the Blazer. I had one identical to that, I’d recognize those hubcaps anywhere. Second car I’d bought, only paid $1 for it.

    Rear End Noise

Also check your rear framerail bushings and bolts. I have a broken bolt on one in OldsCool that manifests itself every once in a while over bumps.

What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

I just recently ordered some sequential DigiTails for my front bumper signal lights, they’re estimating a 2 month delivery date. Hopefully they can turn yours around quicker, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Don’t forget to safety wire all your bolts too. It’s cheap insurance.
