hello everyone so I wanted to know if anyone had any tips on adjusting the power steering belt on the olds it’s a 307 with the ac compressor. I replaced the belts last year and I felt the belt a little loose today. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Yes it’s weird man! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to bring the bar out again lol so do you loosen all the belts or just the lower one? Or the one in the pulley as well?I leave the lower bolt slightly loose so I can use a 15 mm flat wrench from the top and use a pry bar to tighten the belt. I find new belts need adjusted multiple times to stay tight enough due to stretching.
I’m sorry I meant bolts not belts my mistakeI am sure there are two to one the power steering pump. Just adjust the ps belt if the rest are tight.
Good idea Frank, the bar can slip and dent or damage accessories.I use one of those plastic grip ratchet carpentry clamps to tighen the gbody pullys. I expand the clamp between the pullus and then tighen the bolts. Works every time for me.
Christian, I’ve Also seen cases where the power steering reservoir was beat to hack from pry bars. This can also cause leaks in the power steering reservoirGood idea Frank, the bar can slip and dent or damage accessories.
