Does a kit come with everything? Including that retainer?Rocker arm retainer, GM part number 1254371.
And each lifter takes one right?Looks like GM sold them 20 to a bag but I don't see anyone having them in stock. OEM ones seem to go for about 5 bux each. Rockauto has them aftermarket . MELLING MRM1724 for $2.60 for a pack of 4.
Ahhh... i got confused with that.. but cool.. thank you for the info.. now i can get the retainers.. some had them and some didntWhat you're calling lifters are called rocker arms. The lifters are inside the engine.
Rocker arm retainers are the little plastic buttons that hold the rocker arms from moving side to side. To make installing them easier soften them up by putting the new plastic retainers in boiling water and use a socket extension and a small hammer to smack them in the hole. If you remove the rocker shaft assembly don't overtighten the bolts. They're very easy to snap.
Here's the rock auto link for them

Buy a bunch extra in case you break some. There's one for each valve, two valves per cylinder, six cylinders, so minimum you'll need 12, buy more. Doesn't hurt to have spares.
And each lifter takes one right (rocker) lifters are hydrolic Jack's that sit on the cam (bumps tick lol)
