so while the motors out, I've been freshining up under the hood. so far I've undercoated the frame underneath the rockers, the firewall, trans tunnel, and alil under the floor pans, some of the factory stuff is still in tact and doing its job, and the car is pretty clean underneath, no rot or rust. I also removed the AC Evaporator and Accumulator, when I switched the 307 to the sbc, 2 years ago, i left out the AC. but wanted to keep the heater for the cold mornings. I'm pretty crafty with some tin snips, a break and a rivet gun and it helps that i work at a sign shop and have access to all that machinery and tools to play with :D....I want to know if anyone has any tips on cleaning up the wiring as my wires were everywhere and it didn't look to appealing. i know to use convulted tubing and all that but what's a good way to sort out everything if that makes any sense, it seems like a headache, but i want to tackle it before i get the motor in

I think it would be better to clean it all up after you get the engine in.

Where'd your heater core go?

That looks like a pretty slick way to get rid of the a/c you did there.

While the motor is out, it's a good time to get rid of all the wires you won't be using. As for cleaning up the wires that remain, I think your best bet is to wait until the motor is in. That way you can lay your wires out where you want them to go, and then you can figure out how you want to make it work. Trying to guess without the motor in will result in a big headache, and maybe some sensitive areas on your scalp from scratching your noodle too much...

I wanted to keep my heater but i made my a/c delete plate for now. Your setup looks pretty good. I was thinking of adding all the a/c equipment back but the headers melted a huge hole on the lower bottom. If i was to reinstall it how would i prevent it from happening again?

just had another thought something i wanted to do with my ride to clean the wires up i was thinking unbolt the fuse block { split the halves } then take the engine wire harness and install it under the dash { reconnect the fuse block halves and fab a mounting bracket for the fuse box } then cut a hole to slip the starter / alternator/ distr wires through and install a grommet around the parameter of the hole was thinking making the hole low near the passenger area near the tunnel and a small hole near the driver side of tunnel for dist / tac / water temp / oil gauges you can buy a grommet assortment in the HELP section at you local autozone etc also would have to seal the existing opening where the engine harness fuse block half went if anyone has any insight on this chime in havent thought of any hazards etc i think this would work but my 81 malibu is very basic as far as wiring goes also may have to solder wire extensions keeping in mind whatever wires extended use same gauge size , shrink wrap or shrinkable but connectors. i think it would look pretty slick then wouldnt have the harness wrapping over the booster forgot to menting including the wiring for the lights / horn/wiper motor maybe could utalize the opening at the fuse block half thanks for reading its rather lengthly
