Off-topic, a friend of mine restores tractors and is looking for a new chrome plater. Pittsburgh area is preferable but anywhere in the northeastern US is fine. It'll be very small quantity, custom parts. Near Pittsburgh I only know of Bill's in Jeannette, which isn't an option. Any recommendations?

hopefully RICKDIZZLE will chime in and share some of his chrome experience as he has a bunch of good looking plated parts on his ride.i know you stated the northeast area and all.i worked at a shop a few years ago and they used advanced plating out of TN.it was nice stuff compared to the quality we were getting out of the shops here in mass.it was bad.i was actually talking to a customer thursday about chrome and he used to use Paul's chrome out of PA.they abruptly closed post covid and left a lot of customers out in the cold without their parts returned.👎

Here's the go to for some of the old timers I bumped into when I was still living in the city. It was bought out by a place from Texas but the shop is still western Pa local in Evans City.

Should pop over to the HAMB board for research, topic comes up often.

General opinion holds that it's better to send it to the good shops versus local if quality is a concern, although it could be one of the good shops is in the general area he's looking at.

Either way, it's not going to be inexpensive.

I'm gonna pass that info about it being renamed/bought out by another shop to that customer, maybe it'll help some folks that he knows.

Sorry for the late chime in here fellas.

We started with Royal Plating in Tucson. Good quality, reasonable prices. But after a while the customer service was severely lacking, parts missing or replaced with cheap non original stuff and so on. Took them 3 months to do my rear axle bolts...lol.

My buddy then switched to Don Jose Polishing in Tucson. What a difference! Amazing quality work. Good turn around times, great service and just a good family owned business. My buddy did almost all of his 1963 Impala parts through them.

I am still using Krazy Kutting for all my engraving and then they have their own chrome shop for chrome. They are in Yuma AZ.

Both Don Jose Polishing in Tucson and Krazy Kutting are solid options...but you would be shipping parts across the nation to Arizona is all.
