EL CAMINO White lightning our 81 street/strip car

I used 2 gaskets for years on my race engine distributor. Just double stack them and go. No need for silicone either. Its a little hard at this point, normally you would check it through the rear cam plug, but you can try grinding the bottom of the distributor gear to make sure its not hitting the block before gear is fully engaged in the cam. I'd say take a little off and see if the distributor sits any lower. Then you know the distributor gear is not fully seated in the cam.

Car show last weekend and went for a long cruise with the girl last weekend

Crossed into wisco for a while on our cruise, couldn’t resist when we crossed back into MN

Got the longer center caps so they fit, and I don’t like them. Too much poke out but they are growing on me I guess

Also got some 400 badges to toss on there aswell, spent a lot of time with some scotch tape trying to find a spot I like and this is where it landed

soooooper project especially with your son. I'm jelly. are you going to leave it raked? I've got an '84, base coupe(title), had the 305 and the metric trans with a lock up converter. OK i guess but at 100,000 I changed it to a 400 SB, 700R4, GM posi from a T/A. I got all the stuff working inside BUT the dash and instrument cluster have lights not gages. +Does the Monte have the same cluster with gages? Mine looks just like yours outside. Red interior in v/g/ shape. put on an equalizer hitch. the one on there now is all on the impact bumper brkes then tied to a lite crossmember. Can't haul much. Loving the car it's so smooth. too small gas tank. trying to figure how to get more onboard. been thinking about a bladder 'tween the outer rear fender and rear 1/4 bed interior. 10 gal per side would be nice.
Rambling, anyhow have a beautiful time with your son and the build.

Unfortunate this year was a busy on all things racing for us. We were supose to hit the track this weekend for the final race but I had a roughy week at work, with my chronic health issue and the booster needing to be put in we decided against it.

Likely to keep the little bit of stink bug stance, I can adjust with the air shocks to be less aggressive but where I have it now I love the ride and it’s well planted even with the skinnies up front only started to push at about 80 around a nice long sweeping corner under wot (found that out today) and I need the clearance for my exhaust, it’s cheap and I’m no exhaust guy so it dumps at the axle, from time to time on aggressive bumps it still scrapes alittle

My 84 has the round gauges and idiot lights so not the same as my Elco, I def prefer the round gauges over the bar speedo and idiot lights

kind of funny you say that I did the math on the girls and I last cruise which was a pretty good mix of city and hwy just under 300 miles , I was blown away I got 15mpg with the 400, th350c and stock rear gear when on the hwy cruising 60-65 2100-2300ish rpm

I honestly don’t even know what size tank I have in the thing thought I heard stock is 18 but I have never really put more than 14 in it largely because I don’t trust the 40+ year old sending unit. Think the wagons has an optional larger tank but I’m not sure.

Went on another 150ish mile cruise today car show a little over an hr away and back roads home stopped for some ice cream,

a kid was taking senior photos in the small town we stoped fore a cone, as they walked by he’s checking it out and commenting on how it’s awsome and an Elcamino and how it matched his shirt

I offered to let him take some pics with it, he lit up! He hopped in the photographer snapped a bunch, different angles, the classic in the mirror pic, we talk for a min and snapped a couple more,

driver quality is where it’s at for me. I don’t want anything so nice that I’d never be willing to let someone do this. kids are the future of the car community

2 weekends ago went on Qa1’s #godriveit fall color run, they had 2 times a 9:30and 10:30. last year we did the 9:30 and would have been the same route as last year so we decided to do the 10:30

We made it about halfway and after following the lead truck that turned around about 4 times clearly lost we decided to make our own ended up using a tank of fuel and nearly 300 miles again going from south metro where qa1 is to the west of the metro area breaking off then to the northern, then east and back south to home, we litterially made a giant circle around the twin cities area, making our cruise nearly triple the distance qa1 had mapped out l.

Was pleasantly surprised to get 15.5mpg I was expecting like 10 because 400, th350 and I have a hard time keeping my foot out of the loud pedal, I guess that’s a plus to still having the hwy gears out back!

Wanted the light so hit my local pay and spray to clean her up, I know the frown upon bucket washing but it was later in the evening and I try to used the last bay, no one was waiting so I didn’t feel bad

Drying her off

At qa1 waiting for the cruise to start we were informed the Lakeville PD wasn’t happy because of the burnouts from when the first group left so no burnout when leaving

There was significantly more cars before we left I think there was 4 more rows before we headed out
IMG_5112.jpeg

Waiting on them to post the pictures I open Facebook and boom who’s first in one of the uploads 🤣
IMG_5148.jpeg

Little bummed they never posted the leaving pictures but atleast I got one from the cruise

And a random Tuesday night date night to get some Mexican, she goes what do you want to take my car or the Elco and could tell she wanted to take the Elco

That time of the year, get the garage, trailer rearranged and trailer stuffed next to the garage,

Still not done but got the kids will be daily out of the trailer, I have to get a trans into it sometime this winter. my monte and golf cart in the trailer with inches to spare, if it had the front and rear bumper on it would have fit

It feels so wierd only having one car in here. Need to find a new spot for the pro stock fender after hanging my big flag up, still not done organizing the garage but goal was get the monte and golf cart in the trailer and start getting things alittle more organized but now I can work around the Elco to finish things up.

when the snow sticks around and salt hits the ground(snowed Halloween day here but didn’t see anything get salted) white lightning will go tight against the wall, on jackstands to keep from flat spotting the tires

Threatening snow soon for multiple days which means salt ugh… so got the garage more lined out ready for winter hibernation here in mn

Just been cruising here n there kinda planning for winter stuff I want to do

Took an hour cruise in it last Friday to go grab wheels and tires for my daily duramax

When I met the guy he’s like I love it clean car and your using it like a truck that’s awsome!

Garage is all set back to clean I love it when I get the time to bring it back from being a bit of a catch all during the summer. Got things re organized a bit,

It's great to see you getting to enjoy all of your hard work, and that's a tidy garage.
