That the only bridge across that river, or are there others? Could also depend on what he hit on the way down or how shallow the river is/was, diving into shallow water is a good way to acquire a permanent stiff neck.

Mmm. could be. The forum periodically forwards abstracts from links and threads to me that turn out to be less than current/many minutes old. Typically I e-file them into the dispose before reading folder for future deletion.
