To participate you don't have to be 'fast' as determined by the 'interwebs' gurus. There will be a bunch of 13 and 14 second cars there. The event is truly not about winning, but rather participating and leaning on your build. It's easy to think that these events are only about winning a class with a 2000-4000hp car if you only watch the YT creators' videos. But more than 80% of the cars at every event run 10-14 seconds, and don't be fooled by the internet - all of these events need the all of the participants. HotRod is the best at highlighting ALL of the cars rather than 10-20 of the fastest guys.
I've entered every year since 2019, and I intend to run my junk there for as long as I can physically drive and build a car. I recommend coming up with reasons for what you need to do to get there, rather than reasons to not participate.
