I'm closing in on the finish line for this 12 yr project. new paint. born in white I'm going to a Caddy pearl essence white with a flip flop the interior is red so i thought purple? or red.
But the wheels. I like the ride and handling of the 14" balloon tires. I want to restore the wheels as they were made with painted accents at hte cut outs. I know Olds wheels have chrome or stainless trims, but different cut out then the Elky.
so has anyone attempted to restore these, with paint?

Thanks

I don't see why you couldn't blast them and repaint, and new stainless inserts are available. I'm unsure which wheels you have and what condition they're in so I can't really offer much more.

I powder coated some wheels and we burned the old paint off before blasting them with steel media. Then they were washed and coated. The process would be the same/similar for your paint, and a guy could do it at home with the right equipment.

Sandblasters can be bought cheap but require a TON of air so friends of mine have set rims and other parts in a small bonfire to remove the bulk of the old paint. Cleaning what's left is much easier and goes faster, and may not require blasting. If there's severe rust then it needs dealt with accordingly.
