May be swapping my 700R4 to a 4L80e transmission soon on my 5.3LS swapped '86 Monte Carlo SS. The current mechanical speedometer has been very jumpy even after changing the speedometer cable twice, and lubing with white lithium grease. Now the speedometer has stopped working completely too. Time to switch to an electronic speedometer.

Other than the K5 blazer electronic speedometer, do any others fit the Monte Carlo cluster? What about using an amazon / ebay aftermarket speedometer in the Monte Carlo cluster?

I see this conversion thread here using the K5 blazer speedo:

Use any aftermarket cluster. Like Autometer Invision, or Classic Instruments

Not sure if the monte face plate would be compatible with an aftermarket speedo. That would be a deal breaker for me......I'm a big fan of a factory appearing cluster.

Yes I want mine to appear factory too. Also not looking to spend $1000+ on Dakota, Autometer digital, etc.

I am thinking K5 blazer, G10/G20/Vandura Van, or similar era Suburban electric speedometer, and put the Monte faceplate onto that speedometer.

I used Classic Instruments because i wanted a factory look as well and I'm very happy with it
