Does anyone know where this passenger footwell courtesy light is supposed to mount on my 86 Monte Carlo?

Mine did not have the lights. But I saved a set from a Firebird. I just drilled a tiny pilot hole where I wanted them, and screwed them in under the lip of the dash with sheet metal screws. They hang backwards facing away from the dash over the open area underneath. A great addition to the car.

I ended up affixing the light to one of the vents. The only other issue I need to solve now is why would the interior lights only turn on when the driver door is open but not the passenger door? There appears to be a press in contact on the passenger door that could be worn out?

The interior is very bright now, especially with the sail panel LEDs.

The push button switch is the same on both door jambs. Either the inoperable one is shot or the wires are bad. They are easy to get, just unscrew it from the frame. Sometimes they get cruddy and just need to be cleaned.

This was the culprit. I took it out, sprayed it with some WD-40 electric contact cleaner, and it started working again. It was pretty corroded.
