If you mean this part "Mark where the clip (U NUT.) is on the column so you don't need to adjust it when reassembling".. then yup... basically a unut that's pressed in there
Ok thank you. I didn't see any sort of nut so was confused. Just saw the U shaped clip. Thanks for clarification here.If you mean this part "Mark where the clip (U NUT.) is on the column so you don't need to adjust it when reassembling".. then yup... basically a unut that's pressed in there
You're doing some work too. Wow, I might have to do that in the future if, I but a chrome column I glad your car is coming a long. Keep up the great work your doing.Got it out today. Biggest pain was actually getting the steering shaft out of the rag joint... that took forever. I appreciate the guidance here fellas never doing it before. Will post continued progress in my interior refresh build thread from here.
Here are the pics of the end results today! Going to try to clean up that wiring after re-install. Also took due care to ziptie the gear indicator wire and Ubolt out of the way and marked the column for re-install. 👍👍😎

I am using grease and wax remover than scuffing the whole thing. Going to fill any deep divots or chips and then shoot it with primer. Will then knock it down and I am spraying it same GM color as it was originally. Won't be top coating with a high gloss clear as want it to have a sheen but not gloss. Will probably be good 2 weeks at least before it goes back in so I know its fully cured. 100% will be wrapping it to protect it on install. I am trying to decide what to do with the steering wheel. I love the woodgrain, but cant stand the brushed aluminum on it. Doesnt match...so looking at ideas here. Keeping the interior the OG color. Seats and panels are at upholstery now. Ditching the head rests and doing the seats in a super nice vinyl in the factory Oxblood Claret color. Some simple updated stiching and patterns will be in it. Nice and clean and back to a mild custom twist on the OG interior minus all the engraving lol.Now that it's off, what are your thoughts??? What color and pattern are you going with? and it take 3 Days for the clear to cure as well. also wrap it in plastic when you put it back in so you don't scratch it.
ok, I see. nice I actually bought a GT Steering Wheel Wood Grain But the three spoke with tear drop in-between and it's chrome, but I sent it to Krazy Kutting to get engraved. and the door accents panels the metal piece where you move the mirror and door lock that metal piece is also getting engraved.I am using grease and wax remover than scuffing the whole thing. Heck yeah. They have done ALL my engraving minus my window cranks. I tried a new guy out in Vegas for those. Lmk how it turns out as that is a good idea. I like their custom steering wheels, but they sit too flat and my column isn't telescopic...so don't like how it would look tucked that flush against my column.ok, I see. nice I actually bought a GT Steering Wheel Wood Grain But the three spoke with tear drop in-between and it's chrome, but I sent it to Krazy Kutting to get engraved. and the door accents panels the metal piece where you move the mirror and door lock that metal piece is also getting engraved.
