I need to replace the mechanical fuel pump on my 454, its making a tapping noise when cold and pretty much completely goes away once the engine is warmed up. Thought it was something more serious originally but the only place I can hear the noise with the stethoscope is directly on the fuel pump...so I am guessing something is slightly worn/loose and once it gets some heat in it the metal expands enough to take up the slack. I have been leaning towards the Edelbrock 1722 Performer RPM Street pump, I like the idea of not needing a regulator since things are pretty tight in that area with the intake and air cleaner setup I am using to clear the stock hood. Running a Holley 750 double pumper, I have seen some posts elsewhere saying to just run a stock pump...any input would be appreciated. Thanks
