    Help me please headliner gurus

Nick, It looks like you have no headliner board at all. When I redid mine I added sound deadening to the roof between the beams. I recommend it highly. I take it you have no headliner at all? Where are you located? The reason I ask is because I know of one in the Atlanta area. Shipping a...

    Dad's 62 Ford Galaxie

I always enjoy seeing the progress going forward on the old Galaxy. What a cool car. I enjoy seeing old cars brought back to life that would've otherwise been lost forever. I commend you, your dad, and Sean on a job well done and of course your dad's perseverance. Kudos to you guys. (y)

    Dad's 62 Ford Galaxie

Jared, Dad did what he had to do. I was kind of cringing reading through the process. But sometimes you have to grab the bull by the horns and go for it. It was necessary and he wasn't quite satisfied being unable to reinstall the gutter trim. I think something like that would gnaw at me as...

    Jacks for the road

Thanks Mich, I assume that your spare fits in the well properly? A 6" wide rim is probably about the right size for a spare. I've had this on the backburner for quite some time but haven't had a chance to hit the boneyard. I'm sure you'll be able to find a suitable scissor jack. Someone should...

    Jacks for the road

Mich, I keep a factory type scissor jack in my car, plus the bumper jack, which I wouldn't ever use. The scissor jack is made to fit the indentations or jacking points on the frame. I can't tell you what type of GM vehicle I took it from, but that's what I would recommend. Even a good...

    Malibu wagon tailgate latch question.

I could see where the bed liner would cover up the ills, and would also help strengthen the panel. On my rear panel I used a light coating of good grade body filler(Rage) on some of the pock marks and and scrapes, and used SEM texture coating to help hide any imperfections. Then of course...

    Malibu wagon tailgate latch question.

The El Camino tailgates may look similar but I think they differ in size. If someone can take a measurement for you, that would be helpful.

    Malibu wagon tailgate latch question.

Sorry I can't shed any light on the latch situation at this time. It's been quite a while since I've worked on mine. As for the tailgate inner plastic panel. They're extremely hard to find in good shape. They typically become weather beaten and suffer abuse when the tailgate is down and...

Welcome aboard! Looks like the makings of a cool cruiser and sleeper. You could also emulate a plain wrapper police cruiser.

Buick Regal Wagon rear bumper fillers

I don't think they're even reproduced in fiberglass. Probably because the demand isn't there for Buick/ Olds wagon fillers. I suppose if someone has a pair of decent fillers that can be used for molds, it would be doable. I know for a fact that these fillers are like looking for hen's teeth...

Buick Regal Wagon rear bumper fillers

I'm thinking that the Olds Cutlass Cruiser bumper fillers might be the same.as the Buick fillers. Chevy and Pontiacs share the same rear fillers, but won't interchange with the Oldsmobile and Buick.

    New Guy

So, the Galaxie was your typical stripped high performance version, no bells and whistles. More like a factory, plain Jane race car. Comparable to a Chevy Biscayne or Bel Air of that era equipped with a 409, 4-spd. ..or Plymouth Belvedere with a 383 or 426 Hemi. Got to love the old sleepers of...

    New Guy

Wow!! There's a little bit of history right there. Talk about the days of gasser wars. Stone, Woods, and Cook was an iconic '41 Willys. Powered by a blown 392 Hemi. Ohio George Montgomery was another famous Willys driver, with his '33 Willys. B&M Hydrosticks and Vitar Automatics were becoming...

    New Guy

Sounds like we came from the same era of straight front axle gassers. That '55 sounded like a bad *ss with the 292 cu in six. dual Webers, headers, etc. I do recall seeing them with multi carb setups, but not running Weber carbs. Hot rodded Tri-five Chevys were the norm at the time. I did...

    New Guy

I agree, man. The straight 6 isn't as common as they used to be. I remember seeing a Chevy II at one of the local car shows years ago. It had a straight 6 with a 4-bbl carb and headers and it sounded pretty tough. Sometimes what's old is new again.

Welcome aboard! The old Chevy straight 6 is a tried and proven engine. I would try to get it running, drive it around, and see what it feels like.
