    Worst Vehicle Ever

One of my other cars is Ford based. My Dad and I were at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in the late 90s. We were walking past the Edsel parking area because that show always parks the cars in groups. I'll never forget his saying as we walked past, "Man are these cars screwed up!!"

    Worst Vehicle Ever

If anyone follows Vice Grip Garage, and saw the Bricklin episode several weeks back, that one should be pretty high up there on the bad list. From personal experience, in the early 90s when my first G-Body, 86 Grand Prix got totaled by a carload of drunk teens, the insurance company sent me a...

    HRPT 2023

There actually was... in the late 90s. It started in Boston and then down the east coast through NY, DC, Charlotte, Georgia and Florida. It was in the Fall of '98 I believe. I did the Long Haul on that one in another car I have. But you're right, they've not gone the upper Northeast since...

    Rear shock upper bolt tool?

If the bolts are rusty, I cut them off with the fire wrench. Then I drop the bolts in through the top and mount the bottom of the shock before cutting the shipping retaining strap that keep the shock compressed in the box. Cut the strap and guide it up into the bolts. Zip the nuts on with a...

Grocery Getter Pics, Need a roof rack

I was in need of a roof rack as well. The G-Body versions I was finding were off the charts in price. I found one from a full sized-Olds wagon and cut it down. I made the ribs from aluminum strips from the hardware store. I've hauled countless things on this.

    Malibu wagon sending unit?

I went through this several years ago. I tried getting a universal sender from a race-type fuel cell to work... unsuccessfully. I ended up finding a NOS unit online and yeah, I ended up paying stupid money for it. But in the long run it was better than trying to get a sedan unit to work along...

    Eastwood SCT Contour Tool

I have the Eastwood model and only use it for the rust blisters on my wagon each Spring. So I can't say how well it would do a whole car. I have been flipping the drum around to get longer use out of it since it starts to wear a little if continuously used in the same direction.

    ROLL CALL!

I'm in Northeast, Ohio on the east side of Cleveland where we get all the snow. I have an 83 Regal Wagon. I plan to attend the Detroit Auto-Rama at the end of this month as well as the GoodGuys Nationals in Columbus in July. NOT with this car though. I might go to the G-Body get together...

GBOTM CONGRATS Local Hero FEB '23 - RUST BUCKETS 🔧🔨🧰🔩

Thanks guys! Yes, this is a year-round daily driver. It has war wounds. It gets crudely touched up every Spring. Obviously, I wish it could be saved but a guy can't save them all. I still need to be able to get around in something that doesn't look like regular traffic on the roads. As it...

    How it all started......

My Dad was a career mechanic along with his Dad before him. Together they owned a two pump, two bay Texaco "Service Station", remember those? I used to go and hang out there on Saturdays, since they were only open a half-day. I learned how to pump gas at age 7 because it was "full service,"...

GBOTM FEB '23 ENTRIES - RUST BUCKETS 🔧🔨🧰🔩

This is how it looks every year as I switch it back from Winter duty to Spring, Summer and Fall duty. Out comes the Eastwood Contour to remove all the rust blisters before touching up with white Rustoleum on a foam brush.

Colonnade chassis, better than a G?

I've had both a 77 Monte and a 77 Grand Prix as dailies even as recently as 6 years ago. My wagon replaced the GP. There is no comparison. The GP was light years better in ride and handling even with the exact same wheels and tires that are on the wagon in my avatar pic. A bonus was that it...

    OLDS Olds owner again.

Love the Holiday. Mine is not, but at least it's a Coupe. '78 D88. Like you I previously had an 84 Delta 88 Coupe that was white with the red interior.

I think I need to start watching NASCAR again....

Likely won't happen again. NASCAR will make a ruling against it, or throw the caution as soon as a car touches the wall.

Can anyone identify this horrendous rattling noise?

That was my first thought as well. I had a convertor come apart internally and sounded just like that. I could even hear it rattle without the engine running, just by slamming the door.

    Thermostat dumb question

Correct, just drain a little to get the level below the surface of the water neck opening.

    Sbc short oil filter

I have a small inventory of AC Delco 454. They fit just fine when I was running long tube headers. I don't have the headers anymore though.
