It was explained to me that's a wives-tail dating back to when batteries were made out of wood.
The wood would soak in moisture out of the concrete and it would alter the chemistry in the battery.
But if it's not wood allegedly it doesn't matter.
Were they quiet the whole time?
Mine had 52k and the rears started squealing on reverse. I bought motocraft ones because default and the old ones weren't that worn, maybe 70%?, but the new ones solved the squeal noise.
HR parts is still in business, they just don't have much of a customer facing part of their business from what I understand. You gotta go through a distributor. I got an HR parts poly motor mount for my turbo buick setup last spring.

I've had good luck with my t5 howe TOB on my t56
Electric has the POTENTIAL to be more simple and reliable long term-
BUT, the manufacturers feel obligated to tack on a pile of associated 'self driving, video games on the dash, doors that dance, computers that phone home to the mothership' non value added, bedazzled junk that just jack the...
Best for mileage?
Best for power/towing under warranty?
Best for long term reliability?
There's a reason I searched long and hard for a 5.0 Ford with the dual DI/Port FI system.
1mpg isn't worth the hassle of changing turbos at 160k because they are clogged with oil schmoo.
I dig the idea of the manual
But honestly I can't recommend an original used Muncie or similar 4 speed based on my used t56 experience. A t56 is not a Muncie but it's a used trans that has a lot of parallels.
I don't save a Muncie is bad because of the non OD, but every OEM Muncie based trans...
Yeah I thought about getting the 5700k ones but kinda wanted to keep the car looking kinda stock, and the white brites really stand out on older stuff in my opinion. I didn't even check, bummer they are out.
Happel posted on the sloppy page that Holley had some clearance items. I checked and they had retrobright headlights on sale for over 50% off (orig $200 now $94). I've heard they are great and it looks like they superceeded the PN with some light wiring changes. The lites on my GP suck anyways...
Most straight forward way to validate is pull the wiper motor out and remove the m7 head hardness retaining bolt and just pull the harness out.
If it looks like the top diagram i posted its a 84-87
If it looks like the bottom hand sketch (Arizona shape) it's 78-82
I haven't had clarification...
Is that bundle of cut off wires you are holding coming out of the drivers side fuse box or the passenger side under the HVAC?
I assume it's the fuse box?
If so, 83 is the transition year between early and late. I think it's late.
The printed out version is a 84-87 GN, cut out the powermaster...
Kinda a bummer to see it go but I'm sure you covered your expenses and it overlaps a lot with the ford.
Thinking another G body or something like a skylark A body or?
Madison WI, Road America in WI, Brainerd Int. raceway in MN, MN state fair grounds, Iowa State fair grounds, Lincoln/Omaha NB, all great spots that they have never been.
Western PA looks untouched. Niagra Falls would be sweet.
