If you don’t care about a seam somewhere, use it to be frugal. The ends at the A&B pillars need to be there. If you buy A/M stay clear of Metro, my doors didn’t want to close.

Got and installed the Steele stripping. Installed easier. The first few times closing the door all the way took alot of hard pushing. Left them sit closed for 3 days and they’re closing MUCH EASIER
I’ve got one to add to this thread title. My stainless steel flexible dipstick tube was touching the one header tube. I put a hose clamp on each and welded the screw bodies of the clamps together. Permanently no longer touching the header tube. So redneck or smart?
Congratulations, now heres a real compliment, I’d love to own that. I’ve never liked most of the 78-80 A/G bodies. Not until the 81s. I understand the persistence of completing an idea (your hood)I kept to my ideas on my build. Those modern wheels look so much better than the stockers. Great work.

The stem/base has nothing to do with this problem. The mirror glass is bigger on mine compared to what they call for.
Did GM HAVE 2 different sizes of the 70s-80s sport mirrors? I know bases could be different depending on model. I got a replacement mirror glass for my 79 Elco with dual sport mirrors from OPGI. The glass is to small. WTF
Here’s another example I just ran across. Both clips are SUPPOSED TO BE for the rear interior upper window metal moulding in an El Camino. They came from 2 different companies.
