Yes I checked all that, Old bolts were stock OEM , New bolts were exactly the same length .
My manual stated 22 ft lbs on the banjo bolts. I just saw a thread with a 32 ft lb spec.
I'm considering replacing the lines, only $16 with the chance that the sealing surface of the old lines on...
Been through 6 different pair of washers so far. I'm looking at replacing the lines. and making sure the caliper sealing area
is clean and burr free. And then see what happens. Thanks for your response.
So far all of the leaking has been from the banjo bolts sealing area. The lines are not new maybe
3 or 4 years old the old brakes did not leak. It could be the calipers, I got them from Rock auto.
May have to get another set if this does not work out well. MC also about 3 years old.
I posted a comment about this in a different forum but got no responses.
I have replaced the stock calipers on my 87 MC And now suffer from leaking banjo bolt fittings.
I've tried 6 different pairs of sealing washers (copper) without any luck. I got a torque spec from my manual
that says...
We just drained the gas tank and purged it out with a gallon of gas. Then it was good to go .
It never gave me a bit of trouble with the olds motor. It took a few weeks of running as a DD
to get the soot and diesel build up in the exhaust to stop emitting black smoke.
It was a very easy...
I used to have a 79 chevy pick up with a 350 diesel. It was gut less. Lots of torque but only 110 h.p.
It was a leaky, rattling, really heavy time bomb. I do know that the transmissions in those were BOP
compatible. So when you pull the motor you can put any gm engine of similar...
Ok sorry for the past due response. Anyway I got the car all back together and for the most part everything is working ok.
I got a full 2 3/4" drop in ride height plus the car corners flat as can be with near zero washout or under steer.
Very firm but still cushioned ride. NICE.
Now...
Thank you gentlemen for all the options you personally have used . I think the stops can be drilled out and shimmed to
allow for proper clearance. This makes the most sense to me. I will post back with updates as I get this done.
Thanks jake
OK have to admit nothing has been done since install. The tires rub on both sides turning right the rear outside edge
of the tire hits the back of the fender well. Same on the driver side. When turning left.
Only at full lock. So if the stops were out another 1/4 to 3/8" it would...
I just finished the installation of all new suspension on my 87 monte carlo. Belltech 2" drop spindles and all new
ball joints, bearings, rotors, Pads, calipers.
My tires are 225 -60 -15 on after market mags. I know the steering stops built into the lower A arm is designed
for the OE 14"...
My butt feels fine how about yours. (your kind of on the bottom here too you know )
I was talking about the car before this redo. This is the second time around. And again I do
all the work on my car myself. And at first I was going for a more rat rod appearance. (satin black)
$60 per...
I'm not voting for anything else. If these guys think poorly patina'd 85 442's are worth the award
then I'm in the wrong forum. I think the results are padded.
The black LS powered SS monte is way sweeter. and is still way down on the list of could wins.
No problem GP403, Any picture you choose will still not show the whole deal anyway.
And I understand about the size of the thread. You can only do so much.
Oh well at least I got to vote for myself. Thanks to all those that voted.
Next time I will place my votes more wisely...
Yes I am fully aware of the contest at hand. And No I'm not worried in the least. I took this car to several
shows when it was first finished. bad 350, cheapo $60 2 day paint job, And way less than what you can
see now and took home a 1st place and 2nd place trophy's in 2 years. The...
I wish we were allowed more than 1 photo in the voting booth. To enter we get to post multiple photos but when the rubber
hits the road the Moderator gets to choose what photo will be the one voters look at. 1 photo does not even closely represent
what My car has to offer. Over 3 years to...
The duct tape landau sends a message of Nascar. You know holding things together. You should fit right in.
Drive with respect to your little one and don't do anything stupid. Tell anyone you meet or talk to about your car
in terms of what you want it to look like when it's all finished and...
Hey there friends, Was hunting another site for some data and ran across this tid bit.
Stock car TH 350 transmission dip stick length = 27" For the truck application = approx 29"
Now my transmission was out of an 86 chevy pick up. And the original dip stick and tube I still
