Right, that's kind of what I was getting at. I guess I will have to return the cable I got and figure out what the correct part number is. I dont see why the transmission would matter, I'll just buy one for an auto car, nothing was changed in respect to the parking brake. Thank you for the...
Sorry! I have an 81 El Camino which was originally an auto car. I need to measure the front cable I already bought, but regardless it sounds like I need the rear driver side cable since the front cable didn't even break.
It's a major pain in the *ss to remove that front cable by the way, I...
Recently broke this cable which is between the front parking brake cable and the rear cables. I can't seem to find it anywhere though, it attaches with little clamps between the front and rear cables. Anybody know where to get this? Or if maybe it is included when you purchase rear cables?
Thank you. I actually found out they make counter-weight balance plates for 383 strokers etc so you can use an internally balanced flywheel on an externally balanced motor. So as long as the transmission bolts up normal and the balance plate doesnt push my flywheel too far out, I think this will work...
Anybody ever use a SBC 400 with the t5? The flywheels are very limited for 153 tooth, 2 pc seal, EXTERNALLY balanced flywheels, and they are expensive! Is it possible to use a 168 tooth?
I'm happy to report that I have found my leak. It turns out that the picture posted of the hole in my original post is in fact the source. The other side of this hole is not just a flat firewall, it is actually the lowest spot in the a/c box compartment where all the water is routed to exit a...
Took it into the mechanic today and he looked it up on his computer and found "3.25 lbs" to be the spec. We put in the necessary amount and it blows as cold as ever. :o
I dont know how to read the gauges, but he does. For whatever reason he felt like it was full though and was "afraid" to add more. But the system was completely evacuated before putting in 2 pounds...so...I'm not sure why the gauges were reading "full".
Okay, yeah I was also considering the r12 weight may not be the same as the r134 but if 80% is the rule of thumb it sounds like I need at least a pound more. 2 pounds just seems way too low. I'll talk to him about it tomorrow. Thanks.
hahah nice one. Everythign is brand new except the evaporator core. He did evacuate it, there were no leaks during the vacuum test. My cheapo 4-month old a/c compressor died and I bought another one so I'm having him re-fill it but we couldn't remember how much R-134 (or whatever it is) he used...
Don't have the sticker any more on my evaporator core box and the mechanic only put in 2 pounds yesterday. He said the gauges showed full and he was afraid to put any more. Well its not blowing very cold and I found a decal that reads the system needs more like 3.25 pounds. Does this sound...
wow. thank you everybody for the suggestions. I am going to check out the heater box situation first since I did in fact replace the heater core a few years ago. I thought I did a good job sealing it up though but I will definitely check out all those areas.
thanks again.
Nope no rust near the windshield, we inspected that area a good bit when I had it replaced last week. I also know its not the heater core.
I will take a picture of the area I think its coming from but it's hard to believe that this much water would seep through this location.
What are the most common areas for rain water to leak in? I replaced my windshield thinking the seal or crack was allowing water in but that was not the problem. Everytime it rains my passenger floor carpet gets soaked, sometimes even PUDDLING up. I know its coming from somewhere behind the dash...
Okay ignore that last post for the most part. The vacuum is perfectly fine. The hose was t-ing it in 2 directions and once I plug either side the vacuum reads high. I think the problem is in the control unit, I might as well buy a new one since they are reasonably priced.
temporarily fixed...
I found the two actuators behind the center of the dash and applied vacuum to them and they both seemed to work. The one furthest up in there opened the center vents and I felt air coming through. I also put a vacuum gauge in various spots in the system. Good vacuum seems to come into the cabin...
well I'll pray for a vacuum leak then because I couldnt really find those for sale anywhere online either. I'll check your thread and investigate some more ...I really need this to work. I just spent over 500 bucks replacing all of my A/C stuff and it wont even blow out the damn vents, very...
