    QuickFuel vs Q-Jet - spacer & manifold

If your going to change a q-jet(spread bore) to a square bore, you will need an intake adapter not spacer. I would change out the manifold, especially if your still using the factory cast iron one. quick fuel makes nice carbs. The Slayer series is their budget carb, and works well for a stock...

When I removed mine, I had to soak it down with CRC and heat the snot out of hit with a torch. Then, I finally got it off with a 3-jaw puller.

    anti freeze leak HELP

Check your heater hoses. If they are old, they will rot and cause a leak. Could also be a loose hose clamp, or leaking frost plug in the engine block.

    some pos lowlife f@#$!d me!

I also live in the not as nice part of town. I ended up getting a 100 lb. German Shepard, that likes to bark at strangers. Douche bags seem to leave me a lone for the most part. If they ignore the dog, I have a 12 gauge loaded with 00 buck-shot waiting for them. I have been considering putting...

    Engine rebuild

That's true 83montess. I forgot about the heads. Just to get your block ready for a rebuilt is going to cost close to the $650. I agree with pontiacgp, I would start cruising craigslist for a good used one.

2-bbl on 301 running WAY too lean, but why/how to fix?

You can still buy a reman carb for that engine. Oreilly's has them. They run about $280 plus core. Plus it will have a warranty on it. You could try and find a 4 bbl manifold for it and put a small 4bbl carb on it. I don't remember if edelbrock makes a manifold for it. The 301 ho, if you want to...

AC DElco, Moog or Hotckis or...??? HELP!!

I used all moog for my front end rebuild. The moog lower ball joints were a major headache for me. I got the old ones out no problem, the new ones on the other hand.... The moog ball joints are splined, were as the factory ones were smooth. With my ball joint press, they kept wanting to go in...

Could be. GM is probably like most places, the company with the lowest bid gets the parts contract.

First G Body, rear section of frame rotted out

Its very common for the rear frame rails to rot out on these cars. All g-body frames are the same except the El Camino and Wagons. To replace the frame properly it must be exactly square. If not installed correctly, you car will dog leg and eat tires like they are going out of style. If you...

    350 TBI to carb swap.

We did this on a 305 TBI Camaro. The tbi pump puts out only 14 psi, so a quality fuel pressure regulator with a built in return will get it down where you need it no problem. We still used the factory dist. We unplugged the brown wire going to the dist, that controls the computer controlled...

    intake question

You can plug it with a standard pipe plug. It should be around 3/4 NPT. I don't remember the exact size off hand, but the threads will be NPT. The hole probably goes to the water jacket, so you can install a temp sensor. Some of the old SBC's had the water temp sensor installed in the intake...

    best place to buy trans?

I would take the trans to a local transmission shop with a good reputation. If any thing would happen to go wrong with it right away getting the problem taken care of would be easier, since the trans guy is located close to you.

    timing questions

It may be a problem with the balancer. The balancer is actually two pieces with a rubber insulator in the middle. Over time the rubber deteriorates, and the center piece will shift, causing your timing marks not to be accurate. First thing, put the engine at top dead center. Pull your dist...

    Cleaning Mice Infested Interior?

If you find a bunch of mouse turds n the car, make sure you wear a mask when cleaning. Mice can carry hantavirus in their poop. If you contract it, mortality rate is around 60%.

    NAME THAT NOISE

Sounds like a flex plate\torque converter to me. You need to unbolt the converter and pull it back like the other poster said, and see if the noise persists. All you need are two 9/16 combination wrenches(I think is 9/16 anyway) and 15 minuets. Even easier since the converter dust cover is...
