shouldnt need a reservoir can, as a said it was braking fine before i parked it. I did pull the hose of and I have vacuum there (15-16in). I did notice that when pulled the hose off after I had just shut the car off and I heard air sucking in. One way valve is working.
So Im a little stumped... finally got my LS swapped Monte running and driving last week. Brakes worked well at the time. Today I go to move the car so I can get it ready for the exhaust install when I went to step on tthe brakes I quickly realized that I had no power assist to the brakes. So...
Finally buttoned up the engine this weekend. Topped it off with a Holley ultra 750. Ran into some troubles getting my laptop connected to the MSD 6010 since my laptop did not come equipped with the ancient serial cable connection it uses... you would think they would upgrade to usb by now...
Some more updates on the Monte. Got the Victor Jr intake and MSD 6010 box installed. Made a bracket for the box on the passenger inner fender. Also got my tach and gauges installed and wired. Used the Autometer adapters to connect the temp sender and oil pressure gauges to the LS. Basically just...
Thought id post some pictures of the finished rad and fan setup on the Monte. Made a couple brackets to connect the fans to the top part of the original shroud. also ended up using the stock truck upper and lower rad hoses with some modification. Had to shorten both to work. I ended up putting a...
Lol yes its definitely from a toyota. Says right on the shroud.... not sure what model but it use to have a overflow tank on it. Im thinking maybe a tacoma or one of the suv's. Fits perfect and moves a pile of air :D
Here are some pics of the rad/fan set-up. I cut the Toyota dual fan shroud and my stock fan shroud and am in the process of tying the 2 together. Gonna work perfect since it seals the rad in perfectly so it will pull a lot of air through the rad.
Thank you pontiacgp, thats what i needed to know. Didnt want to switch alternators since I already have this one and it works fine.
thanks build thread is here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22421&start=195#.U5yAESgjU4M
hope it helps you out
Trying to figure out how to wire my alternator for may Lq9 swap. The alternator is out of a 2004 Escalade, and has a 4 pin plug. There are only 3 wires going into the plug from the stock harness so 1 pin is not used. My stock wiring harness from an 87 ss monte only has 1 wire plug going to the...
Small update. Got the fuel system all hooked up, tanks in the car and all the wiring for the pump ran. Ive now started to button up the cooling system. I picked up a 2 core aluminum rad with 1 inch cores. The rad is a allstar performance rad, and its the same piece a friend of mine runs in his...
Congrats, glad you ended up getting it. I cant believe how well that thing cleaned up! Doesn't even look like the same car. Def my all time dream car, love cruising in my dad's 71. Good stuff.
Made some more progress on the car this weekend. Got the mallory bypass regulator installed as well as I ran my -8 braided line back to the tank. I also hooked a 10 micron filter into the feed line before the regulator. I ended up using the stock 3/8" feed line as my return since it was already...
Had a successful weekend getting alot accomplished on the Monte. I did end up changing from the original plan of running a 200-4r... the cheapest I could have a suitable one built or ordered would have cost me between $2500-3000 with a converter by the time things were all said and done. This...
I did most of the prep work with some help, I block sanded the entire car myself (elbows were sore for about a week after). I towed it down the street to a local body shop and they sprayed the car and cut/polished it for me.
