    Heater box/firewall rust! Best way to fix?

    I'm going the resto-mod route. Cut and weld is what I thought would be best. I can't justify cutting the entire ring out and welding in a replacement. The ring is in good shape other than surface rust. I know a few panbenders that can set me up with prebent metal. So.... I'm gonna go with...

    Heater box/firewall rust! Best way to fix?

    Found a rust issue tearing out my hvac box to replace a damaged housing. I figure cut and weld is the best fix but wasn't sure if replacement parts are available? See image and give me your opinions.

    Too many projects and not enough time. After a 10 year hiatus on my project I'm finally getting back to it. I started back in '03 dropping an LS1 into my '78 Malibu. Picked up the car for $800 plus a base ranger in trade and $3500 for the donor drivetrain components. Yeah, I know, I paid too...
