    Car Dolly question

Almost forgot: Later, I ended up using a 2x4 about 3' long to lever underneath the dolly to take the load off an individual caster so I could turn it the way it needed to be to allow rolling. With that, most of the time I could rotate the caster by hand. GL!

    Car Dolly question

I've got a set of 4 of the Merrick Machine heavy duty dollies, and yes, it's a bear to move a vehicle by yourself. I ended up beating the casters with a 2x4 to get them facing the way I needed the dollies to roll. That's 16 individual casters to align! Even then, it's a major workout to move...

Just thinkin' out loud.... What if Caddy had a G-Body?

Let's count our blessings they didn't "Cimmaron" a g-body. The vision in my head of a 4-door Malibu with gold logos, a continental spare tire package, and a phantom top is not a pretty picture.

Don't try this at home, kids

"Did I pop a tire?" No, you overestimated your driving ability.

    Ouch!

$26,875 is the highest V6 MSRP/$25,666 dealer invoice, which is the 2LT trim level. That's BRAND NEW! I'm sure they're offering some incentives that get you out the door for less than dealer invoice. Assuming that you pay invoice, you have $6,866 to fix the damages. Does anyone think that's...

Someone "Cash For Clunkers'd" A GNX???!!!! WTF?

Cash for Clunkers = :blam: Basically, a productive and most likely paid for asset in use is taken out of use and destroyed. Government, read us taxpayers, pays an incentive to a corporation (auto manufacturers/dealers) who raise their prices to partially offset the rebate amount for a...

    200 r4

Run, don't walk from that transmission shop! If you browse this forum a bit, you'll see that a lot of people actually prefer the 200R4 to the 700R4. The 200R4, properly built, can withstand huge amounts of HP & torque, plus it does have better ratio spacing between gears than the 700R4. Why a shop...

1 year old gas in cutlass

Put a couple of 5-gallon jugs of fresh gas in the tank to freshen things up. That will dilute the older stuff. If it makes you feel better, mix in some gas stabilizer like Lucas (Stabil?) while doing this. Have some carb cleaner handy when you fire it up to spray in the carb; that's where you...

    83 HO whats it worth?

A couple months ago, there was a guy selling an '86? 442 T-top w/a 350 Chevy (I know, blasphemy) TPI, either 200R4 or 700R4 w/shift kit, 8.5" posi w/3.73's, and some other goodies in perfect running condition. It was garaged, clean, etc. If it HADN'T been a T-top car, I would have dropped...

Need your opinion: Thinkin of adding a...

Hmmm, tough call. I really like the clean lines of the cutlass, but that might enhance the appearance, since I really like the lines on the MC SS's. Gotta say, I'm not a fan of the elevated spoilers, but the trunk edge MCSS style might look really good. Have you tried photo-shopping a little...

For those of you over 30 lol you will like this one!

Oh, this one is too good to pass up! How about party lines? (For the youngsters, that's phone related, not waiting for your turn at the beer bong.) Lawn darts: Weren't they called Jarts? I remember playing catch with those. Who said we were smarter back then? 8-track tapes: Ah the...

    Disc Brake Conversion

When you change the rears to disc, you'll probably want to use an adjustable proportioning valve, as I don't think the nonadjustable stocker that's set up for disc front & drum rear will work correctly any more. As far as braking power, someone else can chime in w/more expertise, but I believe...

    83 442 transmission

Caprices came with 200R4's? Wow, thought they only came w/700R4's (for OD.) That's good to know. I'm always on the lookout for a good runner w/a 200R4 for cheap. I'll have to crawl under some Caprices now. Any idea on what years came w/the 200R4? Edit: Yes, BOP is Buick/Olds/Pontiac.

200 r-4 slips out of gear when I floor it

Drove over an hour to find that the '85 Cutlass Supreme w/overdrive was (I believe) a TH200 w/lockup converter. Owner thought the locking up & unlocking was shifting in & out of OD. Odd configuration though. The car has the sport guages and a rear swaybar. Finding the non-OD was a surprise...

200 r-4 slips out of gear when I floor it

Sort of a thread :hijack: , but I'm trying not to clutter the forum up with yet another TH200-R4 thread. I'm looking at a car today, and it sounds like the TH200-R4 has some issues. Could slipping on 2-3 shift maybe be TV cable adjustment or lockup cable function issues? I'm not counting on...

So how much have you guys been paying for parts cars?

I've paid as much as $900, but when you're getting TONS of aftermarket goodies, plus a pile of extra factory stuff, I figure that keeping what you want & parting the rest, you come out ahead, sometimes WAY ahead. Right now there's a '65 Skylark wagon I picked up for $200 in my driveway on my...

Some new pics from this weekend road trip!!!!!!!!!

1-lane divided highway, rusty guard rails, New Hampshire plates; would that be Franconia Notch? Was just there a few weeks ago...sigh. I do miss New Hampshire, but the rock salt is vicious on metal. Sure is nice living in an area now where G-bodies are usually rust-free.
