It's called planning head. Your time is an investment that pays dividends.
In an extreme case, could you unbolt the glass hinges from inside the car, then slim-jim the latches on either side of the gate. With help, then you could let the latched glass and gate down, prop it carefully and remove the inner panel.
Not sure if this will apply to your high-back buckets, but I swapped mechanisms from a pair of S10 seats.

Mine got jammed. I tried to open it on and off for a year. Then one random day, I put the key in and wiggled it and the lock at the same time and it just opened. Curse gone. I took the panel off and lubed everything and have not had trouble since.
My experience with Michelins is that they have both good traction and long tread wear, usually opposites. But, don't let them sit in the sun at elevation. The UV makes the sidewalls start to crack long before the tread thins out.
