    The cost-benefit to owning cars??

In 1968 my neighbor across the street bought a brand new Firebird. She was single, employed, at what I can't remember, and she screamed holy heck when we kids played ball in the street around her car. She would move it into the driveway away from us. I'm glad she did, because when I got out of...

T-400 draws 500rpm from Chevy 350 in Drive

I always thought they were different. At least that is why there were two different bolt patterns on flywheels. Some had dual patterns. the T-400 is a bit larger too. I read they can actually fit, but will perform differently. I also again read that a smaller engine trying to push a T-400 from...

T-400 draws 500rpm from Chevy 350 in Drive

Yes, it is. Lots of theories and considerations. I liked this one: "its your carb i just went thru this with my small block it was dropping 500 rpms from park to drive. it had me faustraded change converters samething went to a bigger carb that was tricked out and been threw everything all good...

T-400 draws 500rpm from Chevy 350 in Drive

Not yet. Not my car. The owner is skitterish. I do intend to, when he is not looking, with an accurate tach.

T-400 draws 500rpm from Chevy 350 in Drive

Those that followed the Holley carb thread know I am fighting a Chevy 350 swap full of headaches. A 1978 Malibu with a Targetmaster 350/ T-400 combination that ran for 10 years, then sat for 20 years. The new Holley 600cfm carb will idle like a champ, 20" vacuum, and wants to melt the tires at...

    Shake your booty!

I also have an old Jackson helmet, non auto. That gave the best clear shot of the Sun. You had a wide view and could still see trees, clouds, and stuff.

    Shake your booty!

My auto helmet would not darken at all unless I pushed the 'test' button. I thought it would. Not enough Sun radiation?

The welding helmets worked out great. The glasses the school gave the kids made the Sun look like a yellow blob surrounded by darkness. The welding helmets gave you a nice picture of the sky, the Sun, Moon, a good perspective. We didn't get anywhere near the 90% they promised.

What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

    Shake your booty!

Yes, the entire world is heading to the zone to see the sun go dark. The glasses are going for stupid money, and will be useless after this. I am going to bring some welding helmets over so my Grandkids can watch without hurting themselves. I won't be alive for the next one, so, might as well...

What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

Hey, there is a time and a place for everything. I have a tremendous memory for obscure stuff that makes for interesting conversation. I blame the drugs.........

What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

What? You guys don't fish? Yikes, you have my sympathy. If I didn't go fishing I would have buried the wife in the back yard years ago. Instead I bury fish guts. I probably have more fishing/boat stuff than car stuff. And that is saying something. Best of all, my kids and Grandkids want to go...

What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

I scored a left handed Abu Garcia Black Max with Flipping switch on Fleabay. It needed a good cleaning/greasing/oiling. As I was finishing up, I stupidly dropped it. It landed on the flipping switch lever and it busted off a tiny tit inside that it rotated on. Of course it is discontinued and...

    Shake your booty!

Here in Shitty City we actually had a 4.8 Richter earthquake today. I thought the oil burner was shuddering, then I remembered we changed to gas. The house shuddered like a tank was rolling past on the street. I am in Queens, which is on Wrong Island, so the sandy soil probably absorbed much...
