    78 cutlass frame work under a 85??

I think the main difference is that there is a frame extension for the transmission on the later models. You should be able to add that part on. I have seen a bolt on extension that allows later trannys to be added to earlier frames. The one thing I would watch out for is not to mix frames from...

    '79 3.8 to '87 3.8 swap

The fact that the ports are blocked on the 87 NA make me think that is the wrong intake gasket. The crossover ports for the EGR are there for the ERG to function properly. How else will the ERG get recirculated exhaust if not from the crossovers?

    GMPP Serpentine Assembly A/C lines?

The alternator one fit. The compressor brace did not. It's just because of the header I used I guess. I forget where I read they were optional, but unless you've got a super high horsepower motor or blown setup I don't see it being an issue if you make sure all the bolts are properly torqued. I...

    GMPP Serpentine Assembly A/C lines?

ok that is why yours does not fit. I leave the AC bracket to header brace off. It is "optional". I just made sure to use all the bolts on the front side of the bracket. Besides, the brace does not even work with my type of headers. The hoses from a 91=92 Caprice also work.

    GMPP Serpentine Assembly A/C lines?

in what ways did the 307 not fit? At the compressor? A new Dessicant can will come with the right connections for one end, and the other end should connect direct to the stock BPO condenser.

    GMPP Serpentine Assembly A/C lines?

I posted about this a while back. NO need to find a F Body at all! 1. If original engine Compressor was on passenger side... you only need to get the soft hoses for a Olds V8 engine (280, 307, 350) and the GM hose adapter kit. The 231 soft hose will NOT work, the compressor was at the 9...

    Buick 4.1L vs Oldsmobile 4.3L

Haha. Yah. True. But once upon a time the point of those engines was... 1. Get you from point A to Point B. 2. Get good gas mileage. 3. Abide by smog laws. 4. Idle smooth and not make any noise. 5. Not to spin the tires anymore than to simply gain traction and move the car. Both those engines...

307 runs when it wants, is it running too rich?

this should be your first thing to check. It should be done regardless of whatever else could be wrong. Run on or dieseling is caused by a number of things, but because you said the carb has not been tuned I would guess that is exactly the problem.

307 runs when it wants, is it running too rich?

You need to tune the carb. The idle may be too high and the idle mix is too rich. i wrote this for someone else having trouble tuning their Qjet Things you will need. 1. vacuum gauge 2. Tachometer 3. Idle mixture adjustment tool 4. screwdriver Block your tires! and set parking brake...

    car fogging up

you are in BC? It is cold there. If there is snow in the car or even the exhaled breathe will condense on the cold windows. The AC compressor should be running in DEF mode to cool the air blowing over the evaporator and take the humidity out of the air before it blows out.

    NO HEAT!

HUrray! Was now you know! Should be easy to fix.

    NO HEAT!

there would still be a diverter flap to go between outside air and running air over the heater core. the cable might have come lose from either end. You should be able to hear a difference in air noise open and shut and hear the "thud" when it slams open and shut.
  13. A

    NO HEAT!

If you can feel hot water going in and out of the heater core then it is the cable that pulls the air diverter open and shut. Pull the face plate off the radio bezel and make sure the cable is attached to the slider and the little washer is still holding the cable on. If you are not getting...

Anyone ever used those cheap mini-amps?

i like my original cassette AM/FM analog head unit too. I had a stereo mini jack put on the front so I can run my XM through it. I want to put higher powered speakers but only if I can maintain the original look. This seems like a good idea.

    Jet performance Carbs

I have a Jet stage II qjet. I got it from a guy who used it a couple weeks and put a holly on instead. It works great and I learned to tune it properly using the original service manual. Always starts, never diesels, never stalls.

    TH-350 wont shift?

Agree. Modulator. The modulator MIGHT be fine, the hose connection might be cracked or disconnected. Replace the hose and modulator if the fluid is fine. DO not drive it again till you do, you may burn up your transmission revving it that high without shifting.

    Timing Light

a simple one is cheap. but I recommend getting the next one up with the dial back so you can set your advance/timing curve properly.

    Did I get lucky? TH350 in a 3.8?

oh sh*t. didnt see he had a 3.8 before. You might need that adapter if its not a dual bell pattern transmission. I think you will need the flex plate, I just got a junkyard one out of a 305 equipped car. brush it with a steel wire brush and spraypaint it good as new!

    Did I get lucky? TH350 in a 3.8?

if it is a TH350 the flexplate will work with that engine. I have a th350 and that VERY SAME crate engine in my Cutlass. It is a good little engine! reliable, long lasting and great for budget builders.
