Your car is looking good. Cant wait to see it completed.....I bought that same color gold. I plan on painting the gold on my car in the next couple weeks.
I just did a quick search and that color code is for a 1978 Pontiac. Called Solar gold. It looks good. I really want to paint the gold back on my car, but dont care if its an exact match or not.
My experience with Summit Racing Brand parts is they just rebox name brand stuff.
If you zoom in on the picutre and see this number on the bushing, you can also zoom in on the Engery Suspension number and they look to be the same.
Put it together once and be done with it. If it were me I would put a roller cam in it. No cam break in, better engine vacuum, all around better running engine.
I would go with a cam in a 242 range @.050 and 570ish lift. I like a 112 lobe sep. Would also need a good stall converter about...
Welcome aboard. Thats a nice looking Malibu. You've kept it in nice shape.
Any background story as well? Like when you did the paint, body, etc. to it. How long was it in storage?
Comp on Mine. Comp Cams Ultra Mags are great. I know it says its a ford rocker, but the ford and oldsmobile is the same thing.

Proform and ProComp are garbage. I had harland sharps but got rid of them because we had issues with Proform...
Pypes messed up, They sent me 1 Center to Offest and 1 Center to Center. Which is why i had fitment issues and took the tails off. I was pissed because I didnt notice until after 1 1/2-2 years later.
I currently have a Stainless Pypes system, Its their loudest muffler and I dont have tail pipes on. I do like the Sound but I always like loud and I always liked Flowmasters "Thump". I want to do some changes to my exhaust. I want electric cutouts and Super 44 Flowmasters.
My question is...
Edelbrock in last year or so is when they came out with the Roller Cam version heads. So the heads you have are more then likely the flat tappets.
I also have oil restrictors in my mains.
If I were building my engine today, I would just put a roller cam in it. I would save up a little more...
I have an Engle Flat Tappet hydraulic cam from Mondello. Edelbrock heads with the springs that come on them. I use a name brand 10w-30 Full Synthetic and a ZDDP additive.
