    removing stock radio

I find it easiest to get at the rear attachment through the glove box opening. Drop the door down past the travel stop and you can easily reach the rear of the radio to disconnect the antenna lead and the rear mounting nut. Then slide the radio rearward to get access to the wire harness connectors.

Electrical Problem? Car running too rich

I wouldn't take any chances. If that column was repaired by a professional shop, get it back to them ASAP. If you had a burning smell and smoke coming out of the column and no blown fuses, you could be at risk for a fire.

    It's not a G body, but it's pretty cool...my newest project!

Re: It's not a G body, but it's pretty cool...my newest proj Yes, the frame came from a very late AA 1 1/2T (serial number in the 5,600,000 neighborhood!) It had been shortened to a 112" wheelbase. I originally thought about removing the flatbed and installing a 33/34 box, but that would...

    Cheating The Reaper

Just reviewed this entire thread. Beautiful, thoughtful work! Can't wait to see how this turns out. I think I missed something; which transmission did you decide to use?

    Bucket seats in a wagon

I had these Bonneville seats in my wagon for a while, but they were too wide. I was able to install them, but they interfered with the console: I replace them with these seats from a Pontiac Grand Am. I think it was a 2003 model year car: My car originally had a power driver's seat, but the...

    Bucket seats in a wagon

That was my comment. I was looking at the seat belt bracket in this image: It appeared to me the belt bracket was coming up and outboard at a very different angle than the G body anchor. Looks like I was mistaken.

    It's not a G body, but it's pretty cool...my newest project!

Re: It's not a G body, but it's pretty cool...my newest proj Summer has come and gone and I realized I haven't posted any updates on my hot rod truck project. I thought I had solved the Holley issues, but it started acting up again after I re-wired the truck. Replaced it with a Quadrajet and...

    Bucket seats in a wagon

I agree; I don't know where that seat came from, but it is definitely not a G body seat base.

    WTF

Have you been doing any work under the dash near the steering column connectors or column harness? Brake light power and accessory power both feed through the column/ignition switch harness.

    Found something interesting today

Headliner substrates are molded fiberglass, not asbestos. The dust isn't poisonous, but it certainly is irritating!

    Pontiac/Olds prototype OHC engines info

I think they included Olds because there were OHC development projects going on at multiple divisions. I think this was one of the Olds efforts. It was on display at the GM Heritage Center recently:

Remote mirrors in 83 Ninety Eight

There are 3 small diameter "bowden" cables that control the mirror head. To access the cable head connection, you have to remove the mirror housing from the mirror base. IIRC, there is a single screw that attaches the head to the base. Removing that screw allows you to separate the mirror head...

    floor shifter and column problem

Before you adjust the linkage, you should probably replace the bushings. IIRC, there are 2 bushings in that linkage at the bottom of the steering column. The bushings are usually worn or missing, which causes exactly the problem you are having. I bought my last set at a local GM dealer; they...

I'M BACK and with a new horse in the stable

G body 4 door styles did not have roll-down windows. I've often thought about fabricating a set-up using doors from another similar-sized sedan, but it has never made it to the top of my project list.
