ok guys i just picked up a truck 12 bolt rear end with 307 open gears in it for $20 .... now my plan is to shorten it to fit my olds . no i dont want a ford 9 inch rear end .i want to build these one  am a welder by trade so i want to shorten it my self the only thing is were do i get my axles shorten . has any one done these before here

I am not sure where you are located, but in Salisbury, NC there is a place called the driveshaft shop. They do very good work.

One thing to think about before you put alot of money in to it. The Truck 12 bolts are not the same as the car 12 bolts. The pinion diameter is the same as the 7.5. So with everything else being stronger, that will most likely become the weak point. And then you have the problem of upper control arm mounting points. If you are gonna go through the hassle the corporate 8.5 ten bolt out of the trucks will probably be ultimately stronger.

duds i just scraped that hole thing i have an engine to finish first i guess its $20 down the drain ...... its only $20 but my wife is piss
