I have a 1982 buick regal and i want to put a 12 bolt rear in it. And i found a guy who has 3 of them for a 1969 442 non posi 442 12 rear ends 3.08 323 342 .non posi can some one tell me witch one is better to make into a posi unit for my car and and how to tell them from the other 2 also any tips on how to tell if there any good ive never done any work on rearends thanks.

Do a search inline to I.D. them.
Olds made a 10 bolt ( which refers to the ring not the cover) with a 12 bolt cover.
Many people buy them thinking "12 Bolt" and get a nasty suprise.
So you get the weight of a 12 bolt with the strength of a 10 bolt. 🙁
They also have little to no aftremarket support.

Correct. These are called Type O axles and were only used in the 67-70 Cutlass/442 cars. They have an 8.5" ring gear held on with 10 bolts. The Chevy "12 bolt" uses an 8.875" ring gear held on with 12 bolts. The number of bolts on the cover is NOT an indication of the strength of the axle, contrary to popular belief.
