14 and 15 inch wheels

Do they rub the wheelwells because they're tall like truck tires? 60 series should be a bit lower to the ground than the 75s.

Actually the sides scrubbed. I just changed to 205-75-15's and they fit well all around. But I needed 1/2" spacers and longer wheel studs because I now have 15X7 Snowflakes and the backspacing was too much.

15s don't work if you have a car with 14 inch wheels. Tried them today. I'll have to bring them back and swap 'em for 14s. Those should work.

Do what??? :?: If you had the wrong backspacing or bolt pattern that could be the only reason I could think of that a 15" wheel would not fit the same car with 14" wheels. There should really be no difference between the two other than the 15" wheels will be 1" wider and 1" larger in diameter.

I know. When I measured the bolt to the second bolt past it, it was the same on both wheels. About 4 1/2 inches from center to center. It must not be the same though, because only with extreme trickery could I get two studs through the holes in the wheels. The other three looked like they needed to be 1/4 inch further out if the wheels were going to fit. Maybe the cars that came with 15 inch rims came with bigger rotors and hubs and drums than my car with 14 inch rims. Those Rally II wheels were only made until 1981, so they wouldn't come on my 86 GP new in any possible configuration. I know 14s worked on an older 72 Pontiac when the the newer 15s wouldn't work. Maybe the 14s will also work on a newer Pontiac, too.

Well, you may have bought 15" rims for a GM B-body with the 5x5 bolt pattern. However all GM Intermediate's (A-body, G-body, F-body, Y-body) used the 4.75x5 bolt pattern.

ilduce, Fe3xClone is correcting you however you may not fully understand. I know it's confusing but allow me to help:

Shouldn't make such a conclusion. You can easily fit 15, 16, 17 and even 18 with no mods on a car with stock 14s.

First, your problem is bolt pattern. All wheels come with different bolt patterns. You had the wrong bolt pattern.

Second, your measure bolt pattern from the beginning of one bolt to the center of the THIRD bolt. For g-body's your bolt pattern is "5 x 4.75". You may have had a 5x4.5 bolt pattern which would do what you explained.
