So, I have a set of 15x7 wheels from an 86 442. The centers are fine and even the outer steel rim isnt too messed up. The problem is the beads. Two of the wheels had some pretty bad rust and scale. I wire wheeled it but they are badly pitted. I don't think they will seal well if at all. I know G Body Parts used to have these wheels reconditioned but they don't anymore as far as I know. Is there anybody out there that will put the centers in new barrels? I can't seem to find anyone around me (Buffalo NY) that will do that. Thanks for any help!

Most wheels these days are made in such large quantities that it's hard finding wheel repair shops that do more than cosmetic curb rash repair. I put a youtube link here that may help. Maybe you can find a place to weld and turn the beads, then just re chrome (prob would have to do that anyway).

There's also this company that makes an alum copy of the SSIII http://us-mags.com/saber-u437-w-5714.htm Don't know of anyone that's used them yet though.

Good luck

Hutch

Might want to check with LKQ/Keystone. They rechrome bumpers and recondition wheels. Not sure as to what extent they go, I know with aluminum wheels they'll remachine the face of a wheel if it's been gouged as long as it's deemed safe to do (as long as not too much material has to be taken off).

That being said, if you do find someone that can do what you want done, it might not be cost effective.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am going to look into Keystone or having the beads welded and repaired. I mounted tires on the two worst rims tonight and they both leak on the outside beads. But, just in small areas not all the way around, and the air isn't completely rushing out.
